It is always a pleasure to pick up a book at random from the library shelves and really enjoy it! "Gorilla City" is well written, funny, and exciting. Charlie Small hurls himself from one crazy adventure to the next, from a mechanical rhinosaurus to salivating hyenas. If you lie awake at night worrying that the next book you read is going to bore you to tears, this is the book for you. The format is also interesting -- it is Charlie Small's actual journal with his own illustrations of what he has seen and specimens he collected during his adventures.

I suppose I gave it only four stars because my favorite books are the ones with a real old-fashioned plot -- a beginning, a middle, and an end -- and "Gorilla City" does not bother with such trivialities. It is more like one long chase scene sandwiched between the covers of a book. But, in spite of the lack of plot, I would not hesitate to recommend "Gorilla City" to anyone looking for a fast-paced and exciting adventure.

So far I've read the 1st 2 books in the series. I love the books because it's cool how he goes on so many adventures. The books start right off with lots of action. So far my favorite is the Pirates one, but I am looking forward to reading all of the books. I am in third grade and I would recommend this book to any boy.

I just got this book and it is the best book I have ever read. It is an adventure book. I'm almost done and plan to read more in this series. I love his adventures because I like books about different worlds. I am in grade 3 and am 8 years old. Definately buy this book!

My son loves all the Charlie Small books. He is 8 and an above average reader, but I think these are perfect books to get boys into reading with fun adventures and easy to follow stories.
