What a fun read! Very likeable cast. The mystery takes you on many twist and turns. What is true and is not? Ms. Thrasher does a great job on bringing the 60's back to us. Lizbet is a wonderful hero, if unwilling, to root for. I hope to see many more installments of this series. Fun of mystery and laughs. Charlie and Lizbet have a grand time throwing barbs at each other.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun!!!!, July 2, 1999
This review is from: Charlie's Bones: A Mystery (Hardcover)
Charlie's Bones is an off-the-wall type of mystery. You have to suspend belief about ghosts to really enjoy this book. I didn't find it a problem! I loved the characters, I loved the plot. I hope Thrasher writes more along these lines!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read, July 28, 2000
This review is from: Charlie's Bones: A Mystery (Hardcover)
CHARLIE'S BONES L.L. Thrasher Write Way 1998 ISBN: 1885173474 Buy It Here My first impression was, this is a very well written mystery with touches of comedy. I could not stop reading it.

Charlie's Bones is about Lizbet Lange, who inherits a mansion from her ex-husband. Lizbet decides to put in a pool and that's where Charlie comes in. About the same time his bones are unearthed, his ghost appears to Lizbet and asks for help in solving his murder and clearing his name. Of course Lizbet agrees to help. There are a lot of surprising twists and turns in their search, with a very surprising end.

L.L. Thrasher made me feel as if I was there, in the story, with her descriptions of places and things from the 60's. From the very first page I was hooked. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a lighthearted mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely fantastic supernatural mystery, December 25, 1997

This review is from: Charlie's Bones: A Mystery (Hardcover)
With the death of her former spouse, Lizbet Large inherits a multi-million dollar estate. With her new found wealth, Lizbet decides to install a swimming pool on her new property. While workers were digging the hole, they discovered a pile of bones, including a skull with a bullet inside it. Shortly after that, the spirit of the bones, Charlie Bilbo, asks Lizbet to help him learn who killed him in 1969.

Charlie was an undercover police officer, who infiltrated a radical group tied to overseas terrorists. On the night that the group was to be busted, Charlie was murdered. Since his corpse was never found, his superiors assumed that he was a bad cop, who kill his colleagues before disappearing with a million dollars. Dental records fail to prove that the bones is that of Charlie. It is up to Lizbet to find another way to show that these are in deed Charlie's' remains even though it could prove dangerous because there are people who still want the truth to remain interred.

Although this is a ghost story, it is a unique supernatural mystery due to the wonderful characters that touch the audience's heart. The heroine is an adorable person, coping with too many things at the same time. The gorgeous ghost does not allow the lack of flesh stop him from wanting to learn the truth. The support castis is well designed so that the reader cares for everyone even as they are not sure who are the good guys and who are the villains. It is precisly this feeling that makes this reviewer beleive deep in her bones that CHARLIE'S BONES will be considered one of the top supernatural mystery novels of the year.

I read this book several years ago and still consider it to be one of the most delightful tales I've ever read. The sequel is good, too. I would like to see Thrasher write many, many more of these special little books.

An interesting plot twist. The main character is quite nicely developed and it will be interesting what happens to her in the next story. It is a nice fun read.
