This is a great book ! This book is about a boy named Charlie. Charlie was born whith only one arm And twisted back . Charlie was a so called "reject" . No one would be his friend. You'll never beleave this book unless you read it for your self. This book you won't want to miss!

I read this book when I was a kid and just recently read it again. (It only took about an hour and a half to read). It has a very positive message--one that youth today can't hear too much!

This is an easy read, but I guarantee it will make you cry! Once you've read it, you'll likely want to share it with someone you care about. Ever since I read it for the first time over 15 years ago, it has been my favorite book!

Charlie's Monument was a really good books that teaches life skills on learning to love others who have disabilities. And also to remember the good things and to keep on going no matter what happens to you.

This was the first book I ever read by either Blaine or Brenton Yorgason. I've since avidly read a dozen of their books (with more than 40 total), and found them to be very engrossing, frequently entertaining, and have always been left with a deepened appreciation of "Life's Teaching Moments".

Originally written to help his students gain greater self-esteem and appreciation for the differences in each of us, Yorgason later discovered that the story mirrored the life of one of his ancestors.

Charlie is a "freak"-- born with a twisted back, one arm, and a shambling gait, he overcomes the scorn and rejection of others to win the love of the prettiest girl in town. When she dies at the hands of a drunken doctor, Charlie becomes embittered, but the essence of his character is revealed when faced with a choice of saving or abandoning the man responsible for his wife's death.

Like so many of Yorgason's stories, a great tale of the "uses of adversity", the power of love, courage, and the triumph of the human spirit... a great read, highly recommended.

I loved it because I just recently lost a disabled daughter that was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta . It is a very crippling disease that results in many many broken bones and deformities (She had had around 300 at the time of her death.) She had many physical limitations but she never gave up, and she was loved and adored by so many people. I was told by a friend about the book and immediately ordered it. Thank you so much for your promptness in sending it.
Most Sincerely,
Debbie

The first time I read this book, was as a gift from someone who knew I was going thru some extreme challenges in my life. I contacted Blaine Yorgason and asked to be able to share the poem with people I knew that needed the inspiration in their life. He granted me my request. I have shared this poem and the story to hundreds since then.

Blaine and his brother Brenton and I became friends over the years. ANY book by either or both of these authors is a wonderful read.

My mom makes us read this book when we're in 3rd or 4th grade because it's such a good book. It's a story of a boy born with a lot of physical problems and is at first rejected by everyone but his loving mother but he eventually wins the respect of those around him and has a very inspiring life. I loved this book. Before I read it, my three older brothers and sister told me how great it was and now I agree!!
