Great beginner reading book,

This review is from: Charlotte's Web: The Perfect Word (Paperback)
I purchased this book for my son who really enjoyed watching the movie "Charlotte's Web". The pictures in the book are actual scenes from the movie so he is able to tie the movie to what he is reading.
The reading is about kindergarten to first grade level. The font is large, the lines are double-spaced and there aren't too many words per page. It is a terrific book to read at bedtime.

Movie Tie-In Book Isn't Bad...,
By George Buttner "Agent0042" (Dayton, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Charlotte's Web: The Perfect Word (Paperback)
It's not great, not that I was ever expecting much out of it. This book exists, really. Reading it, I'm reminded of what I read in a newspaper article about the various tie-in books coming out for this film. They'll come and they'll go, but the true story will still be there for everyone to enjoy.
That said, this book really isn't too bad. You get pictures from the movie, plus a reasonably decent story to go with it. This book was released as part of a partnership with RiF --- Reading is Fundamental, and might be helpful in teaching beginning readers. The story focuses on Templeton, and his work to help Charlotte find the perfect word, or words, to save Wilbur. For the most part, it's true to the story / movie. I find this bit amusing though --- "Templeton accidentally told Wilbur a secret: Come Christmastime, Wilbur would be turned into sausage and bacon!" Please. Templeton does very little by accident. Possibly worth the price of admission, but not likely to stand out in memory. |
