I met this author and decided to read his work. Its a slow start but by book three it gains speed. In Southwestern lovecraft horror.

This review is from: The Charm: A Southwestern Supernatural Thriller (Shaman Cycle) (Hardcover)
A thoroughly enjoyable supernatural thriller that pits a union of Native American tribes against an ancient, seemingly unstoppable evil. Niswander really knows his subject and it shows. You not only get to read a very good horror novel, but you also come away with an education on Native American lore and shamanistic practices. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. Great reading!

The book is about real people from diverse cultures facing an ancient and un-believeable evil that few others will believe in. Slightly slow in pace, the depth of the characters and the richness of the setting more than make up. Stands on it's own, yet hints at a bigger picture. Not a cliff-hanger, a teaser. Got me interested in the diversity of the Indian tribes I have always seen as a background. I am looking forward to the next 12 books.
