4.0 out of 5 stars Engrossing story of a "Black Widow"
I am not a huge fan of the "true crime" genre, but picked up this book because I just moved to Steamboat Springs for the Summer, and people still talk about this case. I was pleasantly surprised at how well-written the book was. It also was well researched, presumably, in part because, before his death, the victim had hired a private investigator to dig up...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not too charming
This book tells the same thing over, and over and over yet again. At times I thought I must have turned back the pages because I had already read the same words. The author makes a big thing about the red dots near Gerry's ear. When this is finally solved it takes up about half a line.

I am not a huge fan of the "true crime" genre, but picked up this book because I just moved to Steamboat Springs for the Summer, and people still talk about this case. I was pleasantly surprised at how well-written the book was. It also was well researched, presumably, in part because, before his death, the victim had hired a private investigator to dig up the dirt on his ex-wife in preparation for a trial. The book is a fast-paced read, and would be enjoyable if you like this kind of book, whether or not you have ever been to Steamboat. The activities of this sociopathic woman are chilling.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jill Coit - The Black Widow - I know her games, November 29, 2004

Very interesting and thrilling, I could not put the book away until I was done with the entire book at 4am in the morning, may be because I knew Jill Coit for three years. I worked at the Denver Women's Correctional Facility here in Colorado as a legal assistant. I just quit my job because I had enough of inmate Coit's harassment and manipulation. The last page in this book sounds to me like a deja-vu! Nevertheless, the book perfectly described Jill as I came to know her: always out to cause trouble among staff and ready to bother the hell out of me because I did not give her want she wanted (but was not allowed to have according to rules and regulations). I am so glad I don't have to deal with Jill Coit anymore and I feel much better now!! C. Tschiemer
