5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Trio of shortstories
All 3 are beautiful stories. The 3rd story introduced, to me at least, a new author with an original Fantasy series. I had to buy the 5 books that follow the short story.

I'm really writing this to warn you that you might already have this book - you can read the reviews under the 2003 edition. I'm really writing this to warn you that you might already have this book - you can read the reviews under the 2003 edition. I grabbed it quickly without looking and was unpleasantly surprised when I opened it and started to read. The stories for me are really not worth a second read, maybe Asaro's. The other two would have been nicer fleshed out more, didn't work as shorts. Buy the older version used if you really want to try it out. Each story is very different, written in different styles and will appeal to different readers. I've read all three authors but these are not their best works. If you read the reviews on the older book you will see how each reviewer likes a certain author best. My feeling is that if you read to get a taste of each author you will be misled. Lackey is a great and prolific writer but she doesn't write romantic romances, if that makes sense. Lee's story some will find silly but others humorous. Asaro's, well I've already said I liked it best, works best as fantasy and romance.

These stories draw you into the author's worlds so well that even though each story is "stand alone" you wonder "What happened after that?" I would buy more stories like this in a second.
