These guys are without peer in the music world (in my opinion.) Little Jack Melody's writing is top notch, kind of a mix between raucous show tunes and sophisticated pop, the tunes run the gamut of jazz, klezmer, tango, bossa, variety show and every other musical genre you can think of. The band, which I found out are all current or former music students, is outstanding able to interpret Melody's music with swift precision. Get this album!

I teach drawing at an art school in Chicago. I discovered My Charmed Life in a used CD store and fell in love with it, both for the performance and the brilliant song writing - sometimes comical, sometimes moving, always intelligent.
In fact, every year, I use the song "Samba Ordinaire" in a lecture as an example of a work that has all the elements that make great art.

My seventeen-year-old daughter loves it almost as much as I do.

Wonderful. A little bit of everything. I call them a melodically smooth band with a ocassional slam polka thrown in. These guys played for my wedding in 1994, what an honor.

Little Jack Melody is a group that everyone should own. They are far beyond their time with music quality and style. If you like all kinds of music/ instruments this is your group. I recommend you get it today!!!

What a great band. I first saw Little Jack Melody and His Young Turks at Seattle's Bumbershoot festival four years ago. They're totally awesome and their latest album is a mix of fun songs that will have you hopping such as "My Charmed Life" and more melancholy numbers such as "Close but no Cigar".

don't wear your smoking jacket to a ska show and have it ripped by a fratboy trying to start up a moshpit, save it for a little jack melody show. ljm and his young turks are a neocabaret acoustical quintet from denton texas. oom-pah with the band and postmodern lyrics.
