In Charmed Season 4 we mourn the departure of eldest sister, Prue Halliwell who, unbeknownst to us, until the beginning of this season is killed by a demon named Shaques (sp?). In light of this, the power of three is reinstated by their learning of a half sister on their mothers side named Paige Matthews.

I never watched "Charmed" until it was in it's rerun stage. In light of this, the power of three is reinstated by their learning of a half sister on their mothers side named Paige Matthews.
This is by far one of the most suspensful and entertaining seasons as we watch Phoebe turn into the queen of the underworld, the charmed ones vanquish the Source and Pipers' first pregnancy. The show leaves off pretty much right where season three left off in terms of Coles dark past. The suspensful story line that follows traditional Chinese and Norse mythology in which a god killed the 'source' of all evil only to become it was one we had seen happening for more than a season. Now thats good story writing!

5.0 out of 5 stars The last great season of Charmed before it became a shadow of itself, September 22, 2006
in my opinion, season four is a fitting coda to the Charmed that we knew and loved way back when. While Shannen Doherty is certainly missed, Rose McGowan does a great job stepping in her shoes. Season four is the shows most controversial season it seems, hated by Prue fans because it's a Paige season, and hated by Paige fans because the show is darker and not overtly campy and childish as in latter seasons... I personally loved this season.

Season four picks up not long after the death of Prue in the season 3 finale "All Hell Breaks Loose", Piper and Phoebe find out there is another half-sister out there named Paige, who is coming into her witch powers as well. The two main arcs during this season are Paige accepting her destiny as a Charmed one, moving in with the Halliwell sisters and the doomed relationship between Cole and Phoebe. I've noticed a lot of Buffy fans who are critical of the relationship between these two because it somewhat mirrors that of Buffy and Angel, but I don't understand it. I love both shows but Cole was darker than Angel because he chose many times to turn to the dark side, while Angel's soul was sucked out of him because of a moment of happiness.

Starting with the fifth season of Charmed, the show lightens up quite a bit and becomes more fantasy driven, it's fun for a few episodes but those of us who saw how GOOD the early episodes of Charmed was lost interest once this change of events takes place. In this sense, season four is the last season of Charmed I plan to own on DVD because for me, everything ties up perfectly and I am not so wild about the show it became the next season.

I never watched "Charmed" until it was in it's rerun stage. I loved the first 3 seasons very much, but once Alyssa Milano, and the rest of the producers hurded Shannen Doherty from the show, there was too much of the flavor of the original theme lost. Never was there a complete explaination as to why the sisters could not play with time and return Pru, as with everyone else who had died. You know bring her back from the dead, or prevent said death in the first place. Big mistake.

Next when they welcomed Piper's children into the fold and they called upon past generations in the welcoming ceremony, but there was no Pru. Snub? Oh yes a new sister joined the fold, but it just never had the same draw. Suddenly it became the "Phoebe Show," and the rest of the sisters became nothing more than background. That balance was lost.

Shannen was very easy to blame, because of her track record but I have always felt there was more to the story, and the series suffered because of that change, a change for the worse I might add.

Chamred is one of my favorite tv shows....i was saddened to see it go but the new WB network had to make changes....Anyway, season four is one of my favorite out of them all....the introduction of Page as the fourth sister and the reconstitution of the charmed ones makes this season fun and exciting to watch. The dvd is a must have for any charmed fan as well as those just looking to see what the show is about...this season sets the tone for what is to come after it with many surprises and turns that many would not see coming and if you've already seen it like me just a die hard fan who loves them all you love watching these episodes again and again....anyway full recommendation to anyone interested in buying i give it a full five very deservedly and i would tell anyone that asks a must have in your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charmed Ends It's Peak, March 11, 2006
Although many will say season 3 was the last great season of Charmed, season 4 actually holds the title. While later seasons do have their share of fun and excitement (even though it is not nearly as entertaining as the earlier seasons). Season 4 introduces Paige, the Halliwell sisters' half-sister. With oldest sister Prue dead the power of three is reconstituted with Paige.

Season 4 Includes The Episodes:

1. Charmed Again Part 1 - With Prue dead, Piper and Phoebe are lured to their recently discovered half-sister Paige.

2. Charmed Again Part 2 - The sisters finally convince Paige about their withcy ways and the power of three is reconstituted.

3. Hell Hath No Fury - After being filled with anger over the loss of Prue, Piper becomes a Fury during a battle.

4. Enter The Demon - Phoebe and Paige switch bodies and also have to thwart a demon in Limbo.

5. Size Matters - The sisters are shrunken to 6 inches tall.

6. A Knight To Remember - Paige's past life comes back to haunt her.

7. Brain Drain - The Source convinces Piper that she is in a mental hospital and attempts to make her give up her powers.

8. Black As Cole - Cole must face what his demonic alter ego has done when a woman wants to kill him.

9. Muse To My Ears - Muses have been kidnapped and it is up to sisters to save them.

10. A Paige From The Past - Paige goes back to her teenage years to deal with her issues.

11. Trial By Magic - Phoebe has jury duty and is convinced that the accused murderer is innocent when the others say he is guilty.

12. Lost And Bound - The girls help a young boy who is wanted by the Source.

13. Charmed And Dangerous - When The Source releases the power of the Hollow, the whole magic communnity is in danger.

14. The Three Faces Of Phoebe - Not sure if she wants to marry Cole, Phoebe enlists the help of her younger and older self.

15. Marry-Go-Round - The Day of Phoebe and Cole's wedding day is finally upon us. But Cole has another agenda.

16. The Fifth Halliwheel - Paige begins to feel like a fifth wheel to Phoebe and Cole and Piper and Leo.

17. Saving Private Leo - Two of Leo's best friends from the army who died blame Leo for their death and want revenge.

18. Bite Me - A vampire queen turns Paige into a vampire in an attempt to dethrone the Source.

19. We're Off To See The Wizard - Phoebe tells her sisters that she is pregnant with Cole's baby.

20. Long Live The Queen - With Phoebe as the queen of the underworld, ruling alongside Cole, the power of three may be destroyed forever.

21. Womb Raider - The Seer tries to steal Phoebe's baby and become the ruler of the underworld.

22. Witch Way Now? - After all of the demons throughout the last four years, the Angel of Destiny offers the sisters a chance to live normal lives, but will they accept?

Season 4 is definately one that will go down to be remembered, with Paige arriving and Phoebe and Cole's relationship, this is arguably one of the most dramatic seasons of the show ever made.

5.0 out of 5 stars CHARMED: The Complete Fourth Season (2001-2002), March 17, 2007
Back for a fourth season is the very bewitching show, CHARMED. The show picks up with PIPER (again played by the beautiful Holly Marie Combs) and PHOEBE (again played by the beautiful Alyssa Milano), who are now greiving the loss of PRUE (once played by the beautiful Shannen Doherty), their oldest sister, who was sadly killed at the very end of season three. But they discover that they have a younger sister named PAIGE MATTHEWS (played by the beautiful Rose McGowan), where Phoebe is no longer the youngest of the Halliwell sisters, for Paige is now the youngest. Paige was born to PATRICIA "PATTY" HALLIWELL (played by Finola Hughes, playing the role since the first season), the same woman who gave birth to Prue, Piper, and Phoebe. But Victor Bennett, who is the father of Prue, Piper, and Phoebe, is not the father of Paige. Paige's father is SAM WILDER, a whitelighter (a guardian angel for good witches), who protected Patty. Patty and Sam had fallen in love and began a relationship, which explains Paige's birth, but because an affair between a witch and a whitelighter is forbidden, Patty put Paige up for adoption, where Paige was adopted by the Matthews family. This situation was also dealt with by Piper and LEO WYATT (played by Brian Krause, playing the role since the first season). Leo is also a whitelighter, where he was sent to protect the sisters. Leo and Piper have settled this difference and are happily married, where they await their first child. Below is the episode list, along with the episode description.

"Charmed Again (Part 1)"
Piper and Phoebe grieve Prue's death and struggle with the demise of the Power of Three, until they discover their long-lost sister Paige...

"Charmed Again (Part 2)
...whose existence has Phoebe and Piper fighting to save her from the source, who has 48 hours to turn her to the side of evil. Leo and Cole must stop an investigator from finding out the Halliwell secret.

"Hell Hath No Fury"
Paige uses the Book of Shadows for personal gain, while Piper's inability to deal with the Prue's death makes her vulnerable to the Furies.

"Enter the Demon"
Paige creates havoc when she mixes potions that switches her body with Phoebe and must battle evil that has opened a portal between two worlds.

"Size Matters"
A hideous demon shrinks Phoebe to a powerless five inches and uses her as bait to trap her sisters.

"A Knight to Remember"
When Paige discovers she was an evil enchantress in a past life after conjuring a medieval prince, Phoebe and Piper are trapped in the Dark Ages, leaving Paige and Leo to rescue them.

"Brain Drain"
When the Source taps into Piper's brain and alters her perception of reality. Phoebe and Paige must work quickly before she gives up all of their powers.

"Black As Cole"
Phoebe encounters Cole's demonic past when the sisters help track a widow seeking vengeance on a demon that killed her fiance. Paige helps Piper and Leo with their baby issues.

"Muse to My Ears"
The sisters fiercely battle Warlocks who are enslaving the world's muses to use their divine creative inspiration for evil.

"A Paige from the Past"
Haunted by her parent's tragic death, Paige travels with Leo back in time while Piper and Darryl must prevent the marriage of Phoebe and Cole, whose bodies are inhabited by outlaw ghosts.

"Trial By Magic"
Phoebe must convince other jury members of the existence of magic while Piper, Paige and Leo frantically search for the real killer in time to free the innocent man.

"Lost and Bound"
The sisters must teach a 10-year old Firestarter how to use his power for good, which also brings up issues for Piper and Leo who are keen on having children.

"Charmed and Dangerous"
The Source taps into the ultimate power of the Hollow, which consumes all magical powers, to unleash an ancient evil that goes after the sister's powers one by one, forcing the powerless Charmed Ones into a battle with the source, without Leo to heal them who has been shot with a poisoned arrow.

"The Three Faces of Phoebe"
When Phoebe casts a spell to decide if she should marry Cole, she faces her past and future, while Cole is unable to control the evil growing within him.

"Marry Go Round"
Phoebe fights her sisters on her wedding day while The Source, which has completely taken over Cole, orchestrates a demonic ceremony.

"The Fifth Halliwheel"
Paige, who feels like a fifth wheel among her happily married sisters and husbands, becomes convinced that Cole is still evil.

"Saving Private Leo"
When two ghosts seek revenge on Leo by killing Piper, Phoebe and Paige face the horror of losing another sister.

"Bite Me"
With the hopes of unseating Cole as ruler of the Underworld, a Vampire Queen orders her fanged charges to attack Paige and turn her into a blood-sucker to get a Charmed One on their side. Paige's undead transformation isn't sealed until she takes her first victim, and the Vampire Queen urges her to feed on her own sisters.

"We're Off to See the Wizard"
Piper, Paige and Leo team up with a magical Wizard to stop the coronation of a new Source, not realizing that the new head of the Underworld is Cole and Phoebe is his Evil Queen-to-be.

"Long Live the Queen"
Phoebe has chosen to stay with Cole and take on the role as Queen of the Underworld, but a premonition of an innocent in danger compels her to rejoin her sisters. Word spreads that the Queen is responsible for saving an innocent and Phoebe and Cole may be facing a bloody coup, with the only solution to prove their dark allegiance being to kill Phoebe's family.

"Womb Raider"
As Phoebe's unborn baby starts to show signs of having fierce demonic powers and a violent hatred for Paige, The Seer plots to steal Phoebe's baby thereby gaining the power bestowed upon the heir of The Source.

"Witch Way Now?"
Phoebe, Piper and Paige are visited by the Angel of Destiny, who offers the Charmed Ones the chance to chart a new destiny as a reward for vanquishing the Source of All Evil. The sister can remain Charmed or choose to relinquish their powers and lead normal lives again. Piper and Leo learn some good news of their own.

With The Power Of Three back into play, the fourth season of Charmed is definitely bound to bewitch you all over again. Honestly, I really enjoyed this fourth season, but I was very upset to see that Prue is no longer with her beloved sisters. I was really heartbroken over Prue's absence, but Paige is doing a great job, despite her screw-ups, with keeping The Power Of Three glued together.

4.0 out of 5 stars They keep charming me, December 26, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am a big fan of season 1 and 2 - season 3 is somewhat lost on me. Season 4 showed some promise to go back to its roots, i.e. season 1+2. But to me it seems that it's been more important to spend money on fiffy sets, costumes and what-not, instead of the important things - good stories. I like that they again tried to go back to the series roots in season 7 - to me, it was a good wrap of the show.

If I were to list my favorite seasons, it would have to be 1,2,4+7 - so the season 4 box set is worth purchasing. Actually, if you're a fan of the show, I guess you'll end up owning all the box sets - but I have a feeling this is one of the seasons you'll be watching over and over the most...

5.0 out of 5 stars Get ready for a long weekend, May 7, 2006
By
Angel Star (California heart stuck in Texas) - See all my reviews
With the introduction of "Paige" and the ever looming and dangerous "Source" of all evil, this season is packed with action, adventure and surprizes. After Pru is killed fighting in season three (i suggest you watch "All Hell Breaks Loose" and "Charmed Again" at LEAST twice to really understand why Pru died), the Charmed ones seem doomed until a Whitelight appears and reconstitutes the "Power of Three". Between being shrunk, going back and forth in time and Pheobe's love, Cole, going from deamon to human to something that could ruin the Charmed ones forever, this season is not to be missed. Get ready to see the girls get evil on more than one occasion. And how ever will Piper and Loe stay married after she freezes and then smashes him to a million peices. The end of the season leaves you stunned as The Power of Three is broken due to Pheobe's suprizing new role. This is the season that helped me get all my friends loving "Charmed". The only warning I have is, start watching on a Friday, cause you probly wont want to do anything else until you get to the final episode, where the girls are given the choice to stay Charmed or give up their powers forever in "witch Way Now". Like I said get ready for a long, albeit exciting, weekend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Charmed Season 4 DVD's, April 17, 2006
By
I love the dvd's because I can thoroughly get caught up with the storylines. I never knew how Phoebe and Cole officially ended their relationship/marriage. Season 4 was the most exciting yet! Once I got rolling I could not stop and needed more! This is why the dvd's work so well for me, instant gratification! The sisters are true to their selves in season 4. Page is comfortable with the sisters and has come into her own powers and identity as a Charmed One. They were able to get back into the swing of things and develop personal story lines such as Phoebe and Cole's marriage and baby, Cole's struggle with whom he really is, Piper and Leo trying to get pregnant and Page's work as a social worker. I thought season 4 was the best season to date!
