Eclectic collection of songs make for one WITCHY album!!,
By S. Noble "Lover of All Things Written and Spoken" (Atlanta, GA United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Charmed: The Soundtrack (Audio CD)
My first impression? "What have they DONE?!" The "Charmed" soundtrack is a collection of songs that will mainly appear in Season 6, which starts on September 28, 2003. So, needless to say, I recognized very few of the songs. However, by my third or fourth listen to the album, I must say the CD is really growing on me. It's an eclectic collection of songs that will really please any fan.1. "Hot" by Smash Mouth - What a FABULOUS way to start off the album - with a song that makes you want to get up and dance!! Smash Mouth has done it again with this song that'll have everyone bopping in their chairs. 2. "Danger" by Third Eye Blind - This song showcases a strangely retro/rock sound. I find it to be vaguely reminiscent of a generic song released in the 80s and re-vamped rock-style for the year 2003 - something those older fans and new fans alike with both appreciate. 3. "Strict Machine" by Goldfrapp - With its infectious bass-line and techno-sounds, this song - with its haunting vocals - is a great addition to the album. It captures the dark and mysterious side of the "Charmed" ones. 4. "Maybe Tomorrow" by Stereophonics - Starting slow and sultry, with it's guitar and drums, we're greeted by the raspy voice of the lead singer. Certainly not what we were expecting, but it definately gives this song a flavor of it's own. (On a side note, the lyrics of this song remind me of Paige, stating, "So maybe tomorrow/I'll find my way home." Paige is still very much trying to find her way as a witch, and as a woman...) 5. "Rinse" by Vanessa Carlton - This is my FAVORITE song on the album. This is an absolutely BEAUTIFULLY haunting and mesmerizing song that reminds us that while "Charmed" may be a show about witches, first and foremost it is a show about women. 6. "I Can't Take It" by Andy Stochansky - This is a song that brings us back up after "Rinse". Another vaguely reminiscent song of the 80s, with it's hard hitting drum line and frequently changing tempo. 7. "Worn Me Down" by Rachel Yamagata - This song features a very different sound. It verges on the edge of Annie Lenox, with a moderately fast tempo. I almost want to say that I detect an ever so subtle accent from Rachel. It gives the song that much more mystery. 8. "Do You Realize" by The Flaming Lips - This song sounds to me as it if could have come from an old Beatles album. It almost sounds like it could have been a sing-a-long song, with its "chorus" of voices singing certain parts. Very different. 9. "New Favorite Thing" by Balligomingo - This song offers a breath of fresh air to the album, with Lucy Woodward offering her pop-ish style and very light and beautiful vocals. This adds to the eclectic nature of the album, bringing pop together with techno. 10. "Rainbow In The Sky" by Ziggy Marley - Okay, it's Ziggy Marley - need I say more?? This song an absolutely wonderful reggae song, stating "There's a rainbow in the sky/All the time." I guarantee you'll find yourself dancing in your chair. 11. "How Soon Is Now?" by Love Spit Love - This is the theme song from the show. Most listeners will listen and say, "Did they do a re-mix for the show?" And the answer is, "No". They simply took this song and spliced it to the theme we have now. This song sums up the entire show in 9 simple words - "I am human and I need to be loved..." This album certainly has something for everyone, and is a great way for new bands to get themselves heard. Who knew there was so much un-discovered talent laying around, waiting to be discovered? I highly suggest this album for "Charmed" fans and those who just have an eclectic taste for music. There's something for everyone on this album. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am!!

I Am The Son and The Heir,

I'm very surprised by this soundtrack. I only recently became a fan of this show. After watching a few of the shows, I really fell in love with the theme of the show and wished like crazy that they would take it and put it on a soundtrack and what do you know, they did it! I was still weary of buying the entire CD though because I hate buying a CD for only one song, that has to be the biggest disappointment of any avid music collector. Still I love the show and I love "How Soon Is Now?" by Love Spit Love so I bought it. After listening to it all thoroughly there are some real good tunes here. The song "Maybe Tomorrow" by Stereophonics really stands out to me and it has quickly become one of my favorite songs of the moment. I also love the song "Strict Machine" by GoldFrapp. I love the show and now I've fallen in love with it's "soundtrack". The music doesn't sound like it's geared toward a teen audience, there is some real mature and well developed music here. Give it a try.

Charmed -- The Soundtrack,

The reason why I gave this CD only a "3" was because I really only bought it for one song -- "How Soon Is Now" (the theme song for the show). I must say that they've edited it cunningly for use as the theme song, so if you purchase this like I did expecting to hear the version used on the show, the version of this CD is slightly different, but it's still a great song. If you want to hear a really great version of this song, buy the Smiths "The Singles" and hear the original.

I have loved the show "Charmed" ever since I started watching it, and have been waiting for a CD and DVD to come out (still waiting for the DVD). I bought the Charmed soundtrack the very first day it came out and was thrilled to finally own it. After listening to it once, I was a little bummed it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I told myself to listen to it again, and I began to like it. Now I listen to it all the time! The music is a variety so everyone will like at least a few songs. With each song you feel a different connection to the show, but each song is great!

This CD does not have just one genre of music it has many and that will sometimes turn people off to it. You know what type of music you like. Take the time to listen to the CD a couple of times and you'll dicover that you like just about every song. Especially if you're a fan of Charmed you'll be inclined to like it. I did! Listen and listen good and maybe you can remember from what episode the song came from. Give it a chance and you'll learn to love it.

Charmed The Sundtrack,

The Charmed Soundtrack is finally here for fans of the WB's most popular show. The album features an eclectic collection of songs worthy of the show's essence.Smash Mouth is a poppy, playful addition reminiscent of the show's sense of humor, Goldfrappp is ethereal and witchy, while Rachel Yamagata and Vanessa Carlton add their own brand girl power. The Flaming Lips' "Do you realize" and Love Spit Love's version of The Smiths' "How soon is now" complete the dramatic aura of the album. Overall the album is enjoyable and representative of the show.

COULD BE BETTER,

This review is from: Charmed: The Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I thought this CD would be filled with the tracks from the show that touch you the most. Like when the sister finally got rid of Cole that was a good song. They could have had some songs from the first three season too. This ablum COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. I just hope when the shows DVD's come out they don't mirror this ablum. ANYHOW CHARMED STILL ROCKS!

Awesome Soundtrack For an Awesome Show!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Charmed: The Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Charmed is one of my favorite television shows and I like the awesome music that has been used on this show so when I found out about this soundtrack I immeditately bought it and it is now one of my favorite CD's! The Soundtrack is very good and features a lot of songs most of which were used in Piper's club P3 and they are all good but my favorite song of all is the song How Soon is Now? by Love Spit Love, this is the song that is used as the opening theme song and I very highly recommend this fantastic CD and I hope they come out with more soundtracks for this show because they sure have featured a lot of Awesome rockin' music and more soundtracks are definitely needed! One thing though is that I wish they had included the instrumental music that is played during the end credits but anyway I very highly recommend this soundtrack to all Charmed fans!

Songs for the Young,
By Karl G "Jerry" (Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Charmed: The Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This is a very uplifting soundtrack. It is very good and very smoothly put together. One point to note is that there songs are very loud and rock-ish, so for people who like the gentle tracks found in Gilmore Girls OST this is not the album for you. Also, if you only buying music from known artists, do not buy this album. The tunes are good but unheard of. Most of the songs are usually from the ending scenes in P3, Piper's club, and some are shown in the starting scenes of the San Franscisco citylights. If you've liked a particular song while watching the show, get its title and match it with the songs on this album. Do not buy the album straight away because most of the songs in the album can go either way based on the buyer's preference of music. Some people might like some songs but some might hate them. Overall, an okay album.
