Another beautiful outing from Fambrough that went unnoticed, May 22, 2002
Fambrough isn't just one of the best jazz bassists around, he's one of the most sensitive composers and tight arrangers in the business. The fact that this record is now about 10 years old and still brings the old-school pain and pleasure like it could have been written yesterday speaks volumes, and he continues his tradition of using the heavy hitters to realize the full potential of the tunes.
Great old-school-sound-with-new-world-stories keeper, and just cool enough to attract the smooth jazzers looking for an acoustic compliment to their overly-electric collection.
