Mainstream America got a small taste of Charo's virtuoso guitar playing on The Surreal Life, but the Spanish spitfire has been expertly tickling the strings for several decades. Charo's coochie-coochie image has always overshadowed her genuine talent, but this disc of instrumental tunes is accented only by dance beats and lively background vocals. Nevertheless, Charo has an awe-inspiring knack for channeling all her vibrancy and charisma into the guitar. It makes Charo & Guitar a fun, lively journey. The tireless diva has taken classical compositions--"Luna de Fuego," En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor," "Eres Tu"--and infused them with New Age rhythms, flamenco flourishes and a dance-floor consciousness that should result in serious hip-shaking. I've recently seen Charo perform live & let me tell you, her interpretations of Bolero & Maleguena are reasons enough to purchase this disc. That said, all of it is great. Sit back & enjoy a truly gifted classico/flamenco guitarist!~

Shocking, isn't it? Well, I was on a cruise in March and saw Charo perform. She was fun, beautiful and a treat. What I didn't expect was that she was super-talented. Yes, she is one of the best guitar players in the world, if not the best. The CD captures her phenomenal talent in a brilliant selections of songs. I play this in my car for coworkers, friends and everyone is blown away. They can never guess it is Charo. Everyone loves it. The best are the two versions of Ravel's bolero. Bravo, Charo!

Aside from a couple of songs that have appeared on previous releases, this new instrumental release includes studio recorded songs that Charo performs in her show. The recording of Bolero is very similar to the live version and is beautifully done on the CD. Even the techno version of Bolero is surprisingly good! The other tracks don't stray far from the Guitar work that appeared on her previous release, Guitar Passion". Anyone that enjoys her live shows will love this CD. Charo continues to amaze people with her talents as a classical guitarist. She's truly gifted!
