great songs--even if the CD leans toward the earlier 1960s,

Chart Toppers: Dance Hits of the 60s gives us some awesome `60s numbers that are great for dancing--or just listening to while you relax. The sound quality is excellent and there is a good diversity of artists here.
Bobby Lewis starts things off with a bang on his "Tossin' & Turnin'." This tune rocks nicely for the early 60s or so and Bobby never misses a beat. He sings this really well; and Little Eva's "The Loco-motion" is as fresh as ever! She sings this well and the musical arrangement lacks nothing--it's THAT good. Joey Dee & The Starliters do their awesome, rockin' "Peppermint Twist" that still sounds so good to my ears all these years later; the electric guitars are incredible and the hand clapping makes this number even better! "Baby Workout" by Jackie Wilson rocks hard and the backup vocalists support Jackie's performance as he belts out this number. I really like "Baby Workout" and I think you'll enjoy it as well. "Runaround Sue" by Dion is a number many people will recognize even if they're not already aficionados of this style of music. Dion sings this perfectly and his voice is strong and full of warmth at the same time. Jan & Dean's "Surf City" also rocks real well and this is another one of my personal favorites. Jan & Dean have a somewhat Beach Boys type of sound on this ballad; and it all works very well. Spiral Starecase does a great job on "More Today Than Yesterday;" this bouncy little number celebrates the joys of love and the arrangement works great! The album ends nicely with Leslie Gore on "It's My Party." Leslie never skips a beat and the musical interlude on this number is very strong, too. Yes, the CD selection leans toward the early `60s; but still it's all very good quality. This is a great CD especially for people who want a great selection of earlier hits from the 1960s.

obviously, pretty good compilation,
This review is from: Chart Toppers: Dance Hits of 60's (Audio CD)
This is ridiculous, one looney doesn't like one song and as a result this compilation has a rating of 1. Time to restore some balance. Nothing wrong with any of these songs, which do reflect the spirit of sixties dance floors, though with a bit more emphasis on early sixties, which is sort of taking the easy way out.

I ordered about 6 CD's of the 60's for our 50th wedding anniversary which was in January. We played them during the celebration and we were thrilled with the memory of them all. Very pleased with the production and speed in which they came.
