JOE NATHAN is director of the Center for School Change at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota, and writes a weekly education column for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. I was a little leary at first because the book is so old, however, after reading it (required for a class I'm taking), I think it is super. I've learned a lot that I didn't know even though I've worked in charters for 12 years.
