About the Author

L. Dee Belveal is an accomplished economist, journalist, and author. Born August 15, 1918, he attended public schools in Boise, Idaho, and is an alumnus of American University in Washington, D.C.

He is widely published author on commodity trading and futures markets, having contributed five volumes dealing with these topics, covering the full range of professional price speculation and risk management. He draws on more than twenty years of experience as a professional speculator.

In addition to his writing on market topics, Mr. Belveal also created and administered the Commodity Solicitors Registration Examination, first launched in the US in 1965, which has since become an industry-wide requirement for all futures brokers in order to be licensed to trade on regulated exchanges anywhere in the world.

He has served as economic consultant to some of the world’s most distinguished commercial firms, as well as advising governments in connection with their commodity planning and marketing activities. For a single example, Mr. Belveal directed the planning, structure and addition of Honduras coffee exports to the list of deliverables against the New York Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange C contract.

As a business correspondent, he has lived, worked and traveled extensively in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America and Asia. He keeps his international Press Credentials current. He does consulting, lecturing, and writes occasional business and economic reports, as time permits and his personal interests justify.

This is one of the best books I have read integrating price with volume and OI and trade mix .
It drives home most eloquently the necessity to consider all of the above in analysis and highlights the value of COT reports .
To sum up , one cannot be the same again after having read this book .

this book is not for the beginner trader,
it requires a lot of reading and the language is sometimes hard.
nerveless, there is another perspective on commodities that
can contribute a lot to the reader.
the book teaches who are the main players in the commodities market
and how to select the right side.
The focus is on 3 diminsions: price, volume and open-interest.
there are no formulas in book [it gives rules] and you need experience and much
reading to build a system from it.
i would recommend this if you want to expand your knowledge
about the commodities market.

I have read Mr. Belveal first book "commodity speculation with profits in Mind." This was my first book on trading I am glad it was. Now to include Charting Commodity Market Price Behavior I can say my soon to be develop trading style will be at least 50% base on Mr. Belveal methods. Charting stock behavior is just what jesse livermore suggested studying volume testing the market getting a feel for the markets. Watch the big money and think before they make a move. That is what this book is about. Thank you.
