A very distinctive and very large pilots watch, January 26, 2010

The Warhawk Mechanical watch is large, very large indeed at 50mm. The IWC Big Pilot, from which this one draws its inspiration is only 46mm in comparison. The good news is that compared to the IWC, the Chase-Durer is all titanium construction so is actually lighter but still feels solid. Another big difference is that the IWC is automatic, whereas the Chase-Durer is mechanical wind. Both share a 6 beats/sec Swiss movement, which is also kind of vintage, since most new Swiss movements are designed for 8 beats/sec to give the smooth sweep of the second hand. A solid quality piece worth a lot more than Amazon charges for it.
