5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic sophomore effort, February 9, 2001
This review is from: Chase (Audio CD)
What a great follow-up to "Unleashed." If you only own these two albums, you've got the best of Wolfstone, IMHO. My favorite song (and the fave of many others, to be sure) is "The Prophet." Why it was left off the later "Pick of the Litter" best-of compilation is unfathomable (blame Green Linnet). Hearing "The Prophet" live and up-tempo is an unforgettable experience.

"The Chase" features other wonders: the "Tinnie Run" medley, "The Appropriate Dipstick" (what a name!), and the heart-wrenching "Close It Down," about the tragic loss of backbone industries in Scotland. For that tantalizing combination of music that touches your heart and also gets you spinning and dancing, you can't beat Wolfstone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic experience, February 10, 2000

An e-mail buddy from Scotland mentioned this group. I'm very glad he did. They are fantastic. The music is a wonderful combonation of rock and highland. Who would have thought that bagpipes and electric guitar would sound soooo good together? If you love music, for music's sake, get this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mix of Celtic & Rock That Works, October 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Chase (Audio CD)
My parents tried to introduce this band to me when i was in 8th grade, which was five years ago. I disliked Wolfstone then, and missed a FREE concert by them because of it. A stupid mistake, for if i had liked them then i wouldn't have missed their only concert coming to my area of the world.

Anyhow, you will like Wolfstone if you like Celtic music and progressive rock. Also if you like Jethro Tull and/or Tempest, this might just be your type of thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding! Saw them live, absolutely fantastic!, August 14, 1999

I was first exposed to Wolfstone (and Celtic music in general) on "The Thistle and Shamrock" I heard them for the first time(and fell in love with the genre) about three weeks before they played live at an outdoor venue in Albany, Oregon a couple of years ago. This started me on my search for anything and every recording I could find. If you get the opportunity to see them live, don't miss it. Their show is truly a high energy "Celtic Grunge" experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Innervating Celtic Rock, July 27, 1999

Wolfstone has been my favorite group since 1996 when I first heard them on public radio. The Chase, in particular, is an exciting kaleidoscope of traditional Scottish and modern rock sound. I'm sorry I've never had the chance to experience them in concert since I hear they are absolutely incredible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Celtic Electric!, May 19, 1999

Once again, Wolfstone have produced a suberb compilation of lively and inspiring music, combining well thought out lyrics with outstanding musicianship and raw talant. A particular favourite is "Close it down", written about the terrible employment prospects in Scotland at the time.Incidentally, Ravenscraig steelworks closed soon after, making it seem even more poignent.

Overall, a fantastic experience from the masters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tonight the prophet gets paid, February 10, 2000
This review is from: Chase (Audio CD)
One of my favorite memories of my first year at college was having several friends over to my off-campus apartment and, while waiting for the rest to show up, they started riffling through my CD collection. They hit upon this one and decided to give it a spin. I took them right to "The Prophet." Watching Jen sitting there trying to figure out how to do sign language to the words, Colleen trying to figure out how to make a video of it, and Theresa ask me to play it over and over again was worth the fifteen bucks. And now to discover it could have been even cheaper! Oh, the ignominy!
