Editorial Reviews

“May be my favorite out of all the Rough Riders books yet. As usual, author Lorelei James infuses her characters with wit, charm and lots of sass, but I felt that Chase and Ava’s insecurities and emotional turmoil really stood out in this story and made it so much better.”

—Romance Junkies, 5 BLUE RIBBONS

“Chase is an absolute delight… Sharp dialogue, steamy scenes, and situations that will have you laughing out loud make this book a sure fire winner.”

—The Long and the Short of It Reviews

“Chasin’ Eight really has everything a romance needs to make it an entertaining and enjoyable read.”

—Literary Nymphs Reviews

Book Description

Suspended until he gets his act together, bull rider Chase McKay has sworn off women. Forever. Or at least a month. Whichever comes first.
Actress Ava Cooper became a tabloid target when her boyfriend was outed as gay. When she goes into hiding in an abandoned trailer, though, she finds it occupied by the kind of red-blooded cowboy she needs to prove she’s got the goods between the sheets.
The two headstrong stars quickly end up riding a hot and heady rodeo circuit all their own—until the press gets wind. Is it the real deal…or just another publicity stunt?

If I could give MORE than FIVE stars I would!!! Move over Cord, you have to share your spot in my heart/fantasies with Chase =)

I was soo into the story and chemistry between Chase and Ava I could not put it down, I read it in one sitting...Cowgirl Up And Ride has always be my favorite book ever, but Chasin' Eight just shot right there next to it, maybe even a little ahead of it. One of the things I LOVE most about Chase is he has all the sexy McKay swagger, but there's something different about him, there are many depths to this Bad Boy McKay. I LOVED seeing how the relationship between Chase and Ava grew. There are a bunch of great tidbits about the other McKay's we love, just enough to satisfy my McKay addiction but not to detract from Ava and Chase's story. There's even a totally unexpected surprise in this book and NOPE....I'm not telling....

IMO Chasin' Eight could be a stand alone, even with the McKay tidbits in it. You could pick it up read it, get addicted and then start from the beginning, but of course I STRONGLY suggest to start at the beginning and get as addicted to the mouthwatering McKay's as I am. If you don't start at the beginning, then once you finish CE go back and start, you will be ready for a re-read of CE when you finish the first 10 books....

I don't want to take away from any of the other RR books because they are all fantastic and addicting, but Chasin Eight, is one of the most complete romance novels I have read, and I mean out of regular romance or erotic. CE has everything it takes to be on that NYT best seller list and I really, really hope it gets there!!! I REALLY hope people who don't normally read erotic, buy CE, because I think they will fall in love with Chase and Ava.

I am really getting to start and hate this series because every time a new book comes out I end up staying up way to late to try and finish the darn thing and turn into a zombie the next day. Too many times, I also feel compelled to go back and read the prior books to refresh my memories on the family members. That means that I spend days and days rereading and enjoying nothing but Lorelei James books and do not get into any of the new books/authors that I have already downloaded. (Lorelei James is one of only a very few authors that I will do a pre-buy on. Which means that I open up my Kindle to read and THERE IS A NEW Lorelei James book appearing to compel me to forget about anything else. I totally blame her for the state of my house during that time period and for other books not getting read on a timely basis.)

All of Lorelei James books are fast paced, original, HOT love making, and draws the reader in and takes them on a emotional roller coaster ride that you do not want to end. And this comes from a once dedicated Sci-Fi reader who now can't put down a Lorelei James western romance novel.

Most of the books in this series can be read as stand-alones but to really understand the dynamics of the family, I really recommend that they be read in order. WARNING - CAN BE EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE.

"So you're a leg man?"
"Sugar," he said with a silky rasp, "I'm an everything man. Any woman I find attractive? Every single part of her is sexy to me."

It always fun times to catch up with the McKay family, and this go around its Chase McKay's turn. He's found himself in some trouble with the PBR which leaves him suspended and in major need of riding help, to figure out how to get out of his slump. He heads back to Wyoming to work on his riding technique and keep a low profile for a change. No women, no distractions.

Enter Ava Cooper. She's escaping her own personal scandal, one she didn't cause but was dragged through the media spotlight regardless. She calls up her friend Ginger who offers her up a place to stay in Wyoming for a little bit of peace and a chance to figure out what she's really doing with her life. She has a camera, a duffel bag full of clothes and heads out, far away from the Hollywood scene she needs a break from.

After a great first meeting (naked ninja poses occurred), Ava and Chase form a new friendship, Chase heading out on the road to compete on the PRCA tour under a fake name so he can keep working on his riding skills, Ava goes along to video his rides and try to figure out what her next move professionally will be. I loved so much that these two became such great friends. Chase, having sworn off sex for a month was dedicated to this and while he and Ava had sparks flying everywhere, he wanted something he never had before, a relationship with a woman outside the bedroom. Ava was not too fond of this idea. After being burned by her boyfriend, who really had his own boyfriend, she's lost a little confidence in herself and wants to have a little fun with a nice guy.

Each time I think I have found a favorite Lorelei James book, a new book comes out and I have to change my mind :)! Chasin' Eight has it all...romance, friendship, family, laughter, tragedy...and lots of MEGA hot, curl your toes, leave your tongue wagging SEX! What I loved most about these characters was their honesty! They were not afraid to open up to one another and that's what made them fall in love...and what made me fall in love with them! I totally agree with previous reviews when they say they can't put the book down and then feel compelled to reread others in the series. I fully intended to take this one slow and linger and enjoy my time with the McKay's....but I couldn't wait to get to the next page. Another incredible Rough Rider book! I can't wait for the next Lorelei James book! Bring on the Cowboys!!!!!
