5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting first book in a new Gordon Korman adventure series., July 20, 2005
This review is from: Chasing the Falconers (On the Run, Book 1) (Paperback)
This is the first book in the On the Run series by Gordon Korman, about two young runaway siblings who are determined to find the evidence necessary to free their parents, who have been sentenced to life in prison for the crime of treason.

Fifteen-year-old Aiden Falconer and his little sister, eleven-year-old Meg, had perfectly ordinary lives. Then the unbelievable happened. Their parents, boring college professors, were accused of aiding terrorists, and were convicted of treason against the United States government. Aiden and Meg know the parents couldn't have done such a terrible thing, but the one man that could prove their innocence has disappeared. And Aiden and Meg are trapped at Sunnydale Farm, a juvenile detention center, unable to do anything. But when a fire at the farm gives Aiden and Meg the chance to escape, they take it. They decide they will not stop until the find the man who could free their parents. But there are many dangers for them, both from natural elements and the police who are searching for them.

I really enjoyed Gordon Korman's previous adventure trilogies, and this new series is off to a great start. Aiden and Meg are sympathetic characters that will keep kids reading to find out if their quest is successful. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoyed previous adventure stories by Gordon Korman, as well as new readers who enjoy these types of books. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars on the run, May 22, 2005

Have you ever been on the run from the cops, well Meg and Aiden Falconer have and it will be that way for a while. Meg and Aiden were put into a correctional facility called Sunnydale farm and they dont know why, then they see their parents on the news and the are in jail for treason. When they escape the race is on to find a measly picture to prove their parents inocence. This book is filled with action and promblems the two have to solve. This is a great book, and every one should should read Casing The Falconers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Suspense and Mystery, October 21, 2004
This review is from: Chasing the Falconers (On the Run, Book 1) (Paperback)
The book, Chasing the Falconers, is about a boy, Aiden, and his sister, Meg, whose parents were framed for a terrible crime and are stuck in a juvenile center because no one would take them in. Their only contact with their parents is weekly phone calls. One day, Aiden accidentally spills a kerosene lamp in the barn, and since the juvie center is in the middle of Nebraska and it's the middle of the summer, the whole place goes up like a match. Aiden and Meg, along with a whole bunch of other convicts escape while the supervisors are busy with the fire. All of the other convicts, except for them and another kid, are caught eventually. But in order to survive as fugitives, the Falconer kids team up with Miguel, the only other kid who hasn't been caught. They make their way to New Jersey, where there is a house that had pictures of the only person who could save their parents. Will they make it all the way to New Jersey without being caught? Read the book to find out.
Opinion: I really liked this book, Chasing the Falconers. It was a bit short, but there should be two more in the series. It's full of suspense and mystery, along with a bit of action and drama. It's cool to see how the Falconer children change from innocent children shoved into a place with fugitives, to becoming fugitives themselves. I wish that the book was longer, so there could be more story in it, but otherwise it's a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced and addictive, June 2, 2005
This review is from: Chasing the Falconers (On the Run, Book 1) (Paperback)
I'm 15 years old, and picked this book up, along with every other Gordan Korman title I could find, at the 2005 Power of the Pen state finals in Wooster, Ohio. This is because I was receiveing the "Promising Young Talent Award" from none other than Mr. Korman himself. I dived into this book, and I never resurfaced.

That's the greatest (and also the worst)thing about this book. It's addictive. Yet, at the same time, its very short. I guess, its a harmless thing, because thats what all authors want to accomplish. They want to hook their readers. I read the entire book without stopping, and it only took a couple hours.

The characters are likeable and are very three dimensional. The dialogue and story is intelligent and sprinkled with wit. This is a great read.

My 10-year-old loves this series, and has hooked her 12-year-old sister in to it, too. I've read some of the books out loud to the kids and they are fun, fast, and clean. Great suspense of a very appropriate nature for young readers. I would recommend these books to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellant, a real page-turner!!, April 27, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Chasing the Falconers (On the Run, Book 1) (Paperback)
Chasing the falconers is about a 15-year-old boy named Aiden, and an 11-year-old, Meg. Their parents, both crimonalagists, are convicted of aiding forgein terrorists, and given life sentences. It is up to Aiden and Meg to prove their innocence, traveling from sate to state on the smallest clue, and boncing in and out of the FBI's track. Packing his books with shocks and suprises, Gordan Korman will never leave you bored. Once I picked up this book, it was practicly impossible to put down. I would HIGHLY recamend it to all who love action-packed page-turners.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chasing The Falconers, November 22, 2005
This review is from: Chasing the Falconers (On the Run, Book 1) (Paperback)
This book is about Aidan and Meg Falconer, when they run away from a correction center for kids their age.
Aidan drops a kerosene lamp on the ground in the barn
and everything in the barn burned down with the house which his sister was in the house. Aidan went in the burning house and saves his sister, when they get out Aidan tells his sister he started the fire so they decide to run away to prove their parents are not guilty of the crimes pressed against them. While looking for parents they needed a map to look at, and they get different clothes on and then when they leave the store they find out from a kid that was working at the store that the cops are looking in this area because the manger called. When they are on the run they meet up with another Juvenile dentition center child named Mignel and he was in the center for murder. You have to read the book to find out about the rest.

I like this book because there is a lot of action adventure and they are always on the run .My dislikes are when Mignel tries to hurt Meg Falconer with scissors when he was cutting her hair for a disguise.

I recommended this book to people that like action adventure books and people always on the run.

This book reminds me of a book I read named Artemis Fowl By: Eoil Colfer

5.0 out of 5 stars The Fugitive...for kids!, August 8, 2005
This review is from: Chasing the Falconers (On the Run, Book 1) (Paperback)
Think Harrison Ford in the movie version of the "Fugutive" then change the main characters to two adolescents and you've got Gordon Korman's On the Run series. Action, adventure and lots of ingenuity go in to this great beginning. The end leaves you wanting to grab book #2 and keep reading about Aiden's and Meg's adventures "on the run."

Highly recommended for upper elementary and middle school readers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too, April 10, 2006
This review is from: Chasing the Falconers (On the Run, Book 1) (Paperback)
Gordon Korman's ON THE RUN series starts off with a bang with CHASING THE FALCONERS, an action-adventure thriller with serious overtones. The opening of the story finds Aidan Falconer, 15, and his younger sister, Meg, 11, ensconced at Sunnydale Farm, a so-called minimum-security rehabilitation alternative for delinquent youths. Although Aidan and Meg haven't committed any crimes, their parents, Drs. John and Louise Falconer, both Professors and criminologists, had been found guilty of treason months before--and are now serving life sentences in separate prisons.

Both Drs. had been working for the CIA, under the tutelage of operative "Uncle" Frank Lindenauer, to create profiles to help the US government identify and locate terrorists. Unfortunately, though, the profiles fell into the hands of the very terrorists the Falconer's were profiling, and the world branded them traitors to the United States. When their lawyers failed to produce any trace of Frank Lindenauer (the CIA, in fact, testified that there was no such agent in their offices), the doctors were tried, found guilty, and sent to prison. Now their children, although innocent, are paying for it, as well.

When an accidental fire at Sunnydale Farm presents a means for escape, Aidan and Meg grab it. There mission? To find Frank Lindenauer and prove that their parents are innocent. Their only rules are to stay together, and not get caught.

As the Falconer's race towards Vermont and the summer house they once vacationed at with Lindenauer and his girlfriend, the two meet up with another fellow juvenile from the farm, Miguel Reyes. As the three attempt to avoid the police, and FBI agent Emmanuel Harris, who was responisble for bringing the case against the elder Falconers, Aidan and Meg learn what it means to be fugitives.

CHASING THE FALCONERS is a quick, adrenaline-packed read that will leave you wanting to read the next book in the series, On The Run (The Fugitive Factor, #2), as soon as you're done. Definitely a highly-recommended read for all lovers of action-adventure and mysteries!
