I thoroughly enjoyed getting lost in this book. Danielle Stewart successfully takes the familiar theme of Right vs. Wrong to new levels with unique view points and intelligent plot twists. I tend to be a fairly critical reader when it comes to this genre, so I really appreciate the balance of the book - suspense, humor, and just enough romance to make it appealing without being over the top. By far, the best part of the book is its characters. Brought to life through witty dialogue peppered with southern charm, you half expect them to walk right off the pages into your living room. I'm very much looking forward to book 2 in this series!

I am harshly critical about all the books that I read - that being said I was delightfully surprised by the fully-developed, well thought-out characters in this novel.

They all grew into completeness - there was no reading back to see what in the world the author was talking about when a character was mentioned or new character was introduced. I hate thinly written characters that seem like afterthoughts - there was none of this in the novel. The storyline was neat and well-organized. It was not overly sexualized - which frankly I am sick of these days. It has a great back story and some very loveable characters that I cannot wait to learn more about. I also found the storyline to flow nicely - nothing more annoying than a story that goes along and all of a sudden changes and I am left wondering how in the hell the author changed track so easily. Or how it got published. Not the case with this book at all - my only complaint would be that I have to wait for the next edition!

Overall, it was a great read and I look forward to the next in the series.

Danielle Stewart is a name we will be hearing a lot in the romantic suspense genre. What a great beginning to a series, and from a first time writer!

Piper Anderson, a recently relocated newcomer, accidently witnesses an acclaimed public figure commit an assault on a underage girl and decides taking the matter in her own hands will be the only way to have justice served. Having been disillusioned during her second year of criminal justice classes, Piper is wary of the entire court system and most people in general. She is befriended by a wonderful character, Betty, who gives her friendship and the warm caring she has never had before. Betty, in turn, introduces her to the rest of the key players.

The cast of characters in this book is a masterpiece:

Bobby, a rookie cop, will melt your hearts. Who wouldn't melt when told, "I want to hold you until I can't figure out where I end and you begin."

Michael, a prosecuting attorney, is Mr. Nice-Guy in the best sense. "He had done exactly what she needed, been there for her without needing to be everything to her."

Betty and her daughter Jules are the epitome of southern hospitality, right down to the wonderful porch swing and endearing phrases like, "Trying to get her to understand is like trying to nail jelly to a tree."

And finally, Piper, a troubled loner hiding from her past, will tear at your hearts when the truth is known. Her philosophy could be summed up with, "There had to be a place in this world for my idea of justice, and if there wasn't I was damn sure going to do everything I could to make room for it."

This is the first in a series and the relationship between Bobby and Piper promises to be developed throughout the series.

I haven't read a book since I discovered "Audible" and can lazily have books read to me while I drive, cook, fold laundry... but my D-I-L told me about this book by a new author so I had to download it. (I didn't even know there was a free iphone kindle app). I was hooked within a few paragraphs of the prologue and finished 6 chapters in a sitting, staying up way past bedtime. As an ER nurse in a small Ohio town we see it all, including the corruption and seeming invincibility of small town judges, caseworkers, city council... the good ole boy mentality is alive and well in small town America and you Nailed it! It's nice to slip into this book and pretend this woman is really out there, Chasing Justice. I can't wait to see where Piper goes from here!

WOW! What a brilliant debut novel by talented writer Danielle Stewart. If you enjoy Romantic Suspense, you will be incredibly impressed with this work.

Chasing Justice began in first person with the voice of the feisty, intelligent and likeable heroine, Piper Anderson. Switching to third person for the remainder of the story, Stewart created a believable twisty plot, with superb storyline and character development. She built the tension well, and resolved 'the situation' in a clever way.

Piper Anderson has a history that you WILL NOT anticipate! Her faith in the justice system has been damaged to the point that she believed vigilante justice was the only way to right the sinister deed she witnessed, by a prominent and well respected member of the small community in which she lived. Little did she know, that in attempting to bring this man to his knees for the wrongdoing she was aware of, she would uncover his other malevolent and deplorable proclivities as well.

The scam created to bring this to pass was quite believable, and Piper didn't become this fanciful superhero in the process. In fact, the timeline involved was plausible, as was the character interactions and plot to ensure its success. The little nugget used for the cliffhanger was inspired!!!

I really enjoyed the gentle romance between Piper and unassuming but insightful Hero, Bobby. I simply adored Betty, whose Southern motherly charm and vernacular caused me to snort with laughter on many occasions. Things like this "I'm sure you've got lots to tell us, and it's colder than a cast iron commode out here." just tickled the senses wonderfully!

So, Danielle Stewart, you are off to a brilliant start in your writing career! Cannot wait until the second instalment is written!
