Book Description

Briar Thompson had it all. The right clothes, the right friends, the right car. Being popular was all that mattered. Her parents were rich and treated like royalty throughout the community. She thought her senior year of high school was going perfectly, until the night her drink was spiked at a party by one of her so called friends.

That was the night she met Chase McCree.

Chase wanted to go back to Montana. To the ranch and the wild, wide blue sky that went on forever. He wanted nothing to do with flashy cars or spoiled rich kids. But he found himself head over boots for the quirky cheerleader who turned her back on her social status. She befriended him when no one else would.

Shunned and hurt by the people who were once her friends, Briar flees with Chase to his family ranch in Montana. There she discovers another world, and apart of herself she never knew.

The cowboy wasn’t like anyone she’d ever met. The cheerleader wasn’t like anyone he’d ever met. Apart their lives didn’t seem to make sense, but together, they were chasing forever.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quaint Love Story April 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This story reminds me a lot of Sleeping Handsome by Jean Haus in that it has some profanity, no sex and a little non descriptive kissing while telling the story of a girl gaining self confidence from a new guy in her life. It was somewhat predictable and slow moving.

Briar is very rich and part of the "in" crowd, but they are very shallow and rude to those around them. Briar's parents ignore her and money corrupts all her friendships. Her boyfriend Alex slept with her "friend" when Briar wasn't "ready" yet and terrified Briar into running from him at a party when she met Chase, a cowboy from Montana riding his horse in the park. Chase had manners, looks and a protective way about him that she found intriguing. They became better friends and fell for each other while spending the summer together in Montana experiencing several adventures.

Honestly, this was a somewhat lackluster love story and would be a book for all ages if not for the swearing. Anyone growing up on a ranch will like the continual references to what Chase was teaching Briar, but even some of that was tedious. The last 30% was a mystery of who was trying to sabotage Chase's ranch and talking Briar's parents into letting Briar live the life she chose.

Would I/Did I buy it? Yes (.99)
Would I read it again? Probably Not
Would I recommend it to friends? Sure

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! September 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I wanted to read this book because I feel in love with the blurb! This isn't a paranormal story, just a normal, YA story. It is nice to read books that could have actually happened to someone ;) I love the idea of a popular cheerleader falling for a laid back cowboy. Opposites always attract and that plays big in this story. However the more you read, the more you realize that Chase and Briar aren't really that far apart from each other, you know in the middle of this story, they were meant to be.

Chase is a lonely kid, who moved away from his home to try and make his mother, who he never saw his whole life, happy. He moves from his ranch in Montana to live with his mom and step dad in Florida. Right away you can tell Chase feels out of place and is trying his best to make his mom happy, but you know he is dying inside. He meets Briar in the weirdest place, on the high school football field, while she is stumbling drunk, all banged up. Right away I love their interaction. You gt a sense from Chase right away, that is is the type of guy that will never hurt you. His concern for Briar was genuine and real. As for Briar, you could tell she didn't like the life that she was living and she took to Chase instantly, even if she was trying not to.

The story continues and they friendship blossoms and when Briar decides to move to Montana with Chase for the summer, you just know she isn't ever going back to Florida. When they FINALLY kissed, I felt like I was Briar and I was finally letting go of everything and giving in to the one thing I truly wanted, Chase McCree. Thinking about it now still gives me chills. I love this story for how it all plays out, and it isn't your typical, fall in love, heart break, then fall in love again story. The love here is real and it is put to the test, but not in the ways you may think. This story is an amazing read, and if you want a good ole love story, this is it.

My only little issue was I wanted certain things to be more R rated. It wasn't enough for me to not rate this book a 5 out of 5, but there could have been a little extra something something ;) Amazing book, please check it out! You will not be sorry!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great YA Contemporary Romance! September 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
'Chasing McCree' is a wonderful young adult contemporary romance. The book follows popular girl Briar Thompson as she begins to embark on her senior year of high school. Everything seems like it will be perfect, until the day that Briar meets Chase McCree. Briar befriends the misplaced cowboy when no one else will and ends up finding her true place in the world and the life she was meant to live.

I thought that the voice of Briar was very realistic and believable - it seemed like the dialogue and thoughts were right out of a teenage girl's mind. The problems that Briar faces in the book are all things that readers can relate to, which makes Briar easy to identify with. I felt that this book was well written and had a great flow. This was a fairly light and easy read, but it was interesting to see how the main character and her friends/family dealt with the issues that came about throughout the book. Overall, this was a good read and I enjoyed it.

Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
