5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Satirical Comedy
This movie was low-budget compared to most comedies, and the only time I see it on TV is when it comes on the Starz-Black channel every now and then, you can't even find it in Best Buy or Circuit City, but it is the funniest movie I have ever seen...period. 3.0 out of 5 stars because certain parts
I would have given this a 4/5 if it was not for those sick moments like for example the woman who stores her fat in a jar and eats some of it every day and also when the went out to eat she threw up on her food and gave date some of it(I AM NOT JOKING). Also how the big dude always ate gross things like mayo straight out of a jar and ketchup & mustard on cerial but there...

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Satirical Comedy, March 5, 2006

This movie was low-budget compared to most comedies, and the only time I see it on TV is when it comes on the Starz-Black channel every now and then, you can't even find it in Best Buy or Circuit City, but it is the funniest movie I have ever seen...period. It's got disgusting moments because it is satarizing the idea of the stereotypical internet date. The stereotype is that people who try to hook up with others on the internet, particularly in chat rooms, are doing that because they can't meet people normally - for good reasons. They are ugly as hell, disgusting or crazy or combinations of the above and this movie takes those stereotypes to the extreme with the dates that get set up with three average, everyday guys who decide to use the internet as a way to find a really attractive woman, and wind up meeting total wackos. Their reactions to these women are especially hilarious. People who can actually laugh at Wayans brothers comedies and other comedies that pathetically attempt to imitate the style of Zooker brothers movies like Airplane and The Naked Gun (the Zookers are the only people that can successfully pull off that type of humor), and fail miserably at it, should watch a movie like this where all the money goes into the writing and not stupid rediculous stunts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly excellent!, April 24, 2006
This review is from: Chat Room (DVD)
I have a roommate who continually picks up obscure movies from the bargain bin; and more often that not, the movies selected are absolutely dreadful. Perhaps it's the low expectations that come with the territory, but I thought "Chat Room" was outstanding. Despite never really hearing any of the actors, I thought they were hilarious, and much better than established "comedians" of the genre. It's about four dudes and a bet to bring the most beautiful date to their 10 year high school reunion. The plot is formulaic to say the least, but there's a reason it's called formula, it works! Ultimately, I'd say this is definitely worth checking out, as it's a very funnny movie. Definitely a thumbs up...

1.0 out of 5 stars 3 Losers Try Too hard., January 22, 2003

Okay, every so often, I'm in the mood for a silly comedy; I rented "Chat Room" with that idea in mind... Well, I'm sorry to say, I was DEAD wrong. Chat Room stank. Not only did it stink, it was downright unfunny and gross in certain points.

Chat Room, is the story of three losers, who are looking to find dates to their ten-year High School reunion in order to win a bet with another another classmate . Our three 'heroes' (who themselves aren't great prizes) start going to the Afro-Chat, chat room on the internet and begin dating women at random. As you can imagine, things don't turn out too well. Dates range from a transvestite man to a woman who stores her own lipo-sectioned fat in a jar on the mantel in the living room. (No I'm NOT Kidding!).

The acting is poor at best, and makes fun of obese people, homosexuals, transvestites, the elderly, and mentally ill. Worse still, none of the humor was funny, but sophomoric in style. I particularly hated the way that the heroes heavy side-kick always ate gross things: cereal with ketchup for instance, mayonnaise from a jar... Instead of being funny, this was sad, pathetic and degrading. Feh.

The poor acting, gross-out humor and the way the heroes were rewarded for being superficial killed this movie for me. I would not recommend it for anyone except fans of gross-out humor.

3.0 out of 5 stars Chat Room Review!!, October 10, 2008
This review is from: Chat Room (DVD)
Hmmm, ok this movie is not that funny but if you look past that you will see 2 actresses that shine in this movie.. First off there's DEYA SIMONE (Wendy).. She did a splendid job being Wendy.. In fact to me the best actress in the whole movie.. My second place winner is the lovely MONICA MALLET (Fonzie).. She rocked that role.. The most nuttiest & disgusting role goes to NICOLE GABRIEL (Star).. If you a BRIAN HOOKS fan than it won't hurt to have this film..

3.0 out of 5 stars Funny urban comedy from the direct to video prince of urban comedies Brain Hooks, March 26, 2008
This review is from: Chat Room (DVD)
The Chatroom once again displays the talents of little known comic Brain Hooks. In this film he plays a guy trying to find love on the net, not knowing it's been under his nose the whole time. The film is funny and proves the point that no one is ever who they say on the net.
