About the Author

This is Gay Moores third book with Arcadia Publishing. The first, Images of America: Canton, features her hometown of Canton, Ohio. While working on her second Arcadia book, Chattanoogas Forest Hills Cemetery, Moore became interested in the adjacent St. Elmo community. The images within come from a variety of sources, including the Chattanooga Library and the private collections of those interested in St. Elmo. Many images were submitted by individuals who currently live in or have family ties to this vibrant, historical community.

I love anything connected with the ST. ELMO novel, by Augusta Evans Wilson, and the subdivision named after it. (ST. ELMO inspired me to become a writer.) I visited Chattanooga last week and was thrilled to find an autographed copy of CHATTANOOGA'S ST. ELMO in a deli at the bottom of Lookout Mountain. CHATTANOOGA'S ST. ELMO is a delightful book filled with stunning black and white photographs and detailed information about each one. Finding this book was the icing on the cake to my "St. Elmo"/Chattanooga adventure.

A well written documentary about one of Chattanooga's oldest neighborhoods. Many old pictures of landmarks and early families are included.
