Does NOT work with current Windows version 7 and when I purchased, was not stated on the website. Item is useless and can not be used at all, it is only compatable with older computers.

Dont buy unless you are NEVER going to buy another new computer again in your life. Item is useless junk without older version of Windows.

This is a cute and fun desktop toy, but the noise the electronics make when the dog talks can make it a little hard to understand what it's saying sometimes. The speaker could definitely be better. And sometimes it will repeat the same thing, or it will go for a long time without saying anything.

Right now it just said something cute: "I hate testing on animals. I always get nervous and forget the answers." Very cute. Some of the other things it says are just plain odd. Here's another one: "You drink light beer; I drink out of the toilet. To each their own." Okay... Oh, here's another good one: "If one of those websites puts a cookie on your computer, how about sharing it with me?" And... it just repeated it. Wish it knew what it had just said, so it wouldn't repeat itself five minutes later.

All in all, I'm glad I bought it. It's worth the [...] I paid for it here on Amazon. It was easy to set up. It does require a battery, which is a shame. (It's already connected to your computer via USB, so it could charge that way.) And it does take up a USB port. It doesn't seem to take up a lot of memory, which is good. I like it. I just don't love it as much as I would have liked, and that's why it gets four stars from me.

I just finished installing the application on a Windows 7 32-bit system with great success. The reports that the ChatterBot application does not work on Windows 7 applies to the 64-bit version of Windows 7. Setup a dual boot with 32-bit Windows 7 on one partition and 64-bit on a second partition and use the 32-bit version when you want to be amused by your ChatterBot

Knowing my quirky sense of humor, my son gave me this as a Christmas gift. It refused to work on my Windows 7 PC. It's 64 bit so not sure if it would work on 32 bit. However, I have the Windows Virtual Machine installed where it runs an XP environment and the device does seem to work there. Although I did have to mount the USB drive in order for it to recognize the device. But hey ho, I made it work on Windows 7. ;)

Even with the issues, there was much fun and laughter as my son and I were joking one another about the typical installation process and upgrades as we tried to make it work.

All in all it does appear to be a fun little USB toy. Love the little factoids the Dog gives you. If you aren't good with futzing with the computer to make things work and you use Vista or Windows 7, I'd say you should probably save your money and skip it and opt for something more plug and play. But it might be fun if you have a quirky sense of humor.

Cute item, cute idea. Didn't work at all. We have XP and could not get this to work on any of our systems. Waste of money. Would have returned it had my son not waited so long to open it up and try it.

i got this for my brother for christmas. its cute, but doesnt say much. but that could be my brother hasnt done much with it.

I brought 2 of these. but all won't work.all show program error.Better stay away from buring one

I love my chatterbot. I also got the fairy god father for my brother. They just just say the funniest things at random. The little cat meows also.
Eyes light up, it's a riot. They talk to me a lot. Talks when you type, use the web, play songs ect.

I have no idea if this if a fun toy or not as it doesn't work under Win7.

Unfortunately the Chatterbot was discontinued before the software was update to support windows 7.
