This cold compress is one of the most durable and best I've had the ability to use. I get a lot of aches and pains because I'm a runner and an athlete. Having the cold compress helps alleviate a ton of pain and swelling from my routines. I like that it's flat and smooth. A lot of the ridged or textured ones don't seem to help as well or bulge and break. This one has kept it's shape for me and outlasted the rest.

Cold is only one part of the therapeutic correction for injuries though. When I'm not cold compressing my aches and pains, I use a pain reliever called Vivazen; All Natural Pain Reliever Vivazen - 6 bottles + FREE Glucosamine Chondroitin MSM Blend w/ White Willow Bark - 60 Capsules. It helps keep the swelling and stiffness to a minimum for me. Unfortunately I can't carry around the cold compress because it would never stay cold. This is an easy alternative!

I have chronic back pain issues & as a result need to use ice paks 3-4 hours/day, and anytime I'm driving more than 30 mins. This ice pak is a great size & retains a cold temperature for a long period of time. Given this, these paks are a godsend BUT the seams always burst within a few months of usage - causing the seams to leak/ooze a greenish brown gel --- all over my clothes and furniture. They are good for short-term usage, but do not withstand the test of time in my household.

As someone who is going to need this type of product for the rest of my life, the cost of replacing them over a long term period would ultimately become prohibitive. It's not worth the hassle to repack/ship or the $8 S&H expense to return the defective ones every time they burst, either. I tried reinforcing the damaged seams with silicone, duct tape, cloth tape & super glue - nothing worked.

I would pay more for a more durable product - and can't understand why they don't have the gel solution contained in another interior freeze pak or reinforce the seal on the seams to prevent bursting/leakage.

Very thin material that tears under normal use. This is not a heavy duty product and I have no idea where to request replacements under the one year warranty.

I purchased a Colpac last year and used it for about 6 months before it started leaking gel. I though I would give it another try and purchased 2 more but one began leaking after 60 days. I do not recomment this product unless improvements are made with the seams of the packs.

These have been a godsend for me for years. Unlike other cold packs, these stay flexible when they're frozen. This means I can wrap them around my ankle or knee and they make very good contact with the skin the whole time.

But then, after a few months they always rupture and leak. And they break on indented/recessed seams, where it's impossible to patch them with any kind of vinyl patch kit. I just have to throw them out.

For now I think it's worth it, and I just replace them when they break. I usually get a couple years of occasional use out of them first. But if any competitor came out with a similar product that had better durability they would have my business in a heartbeat.

I've used these kinds of cold packs for years - ice is the only thing that helps my neck and back pain. These are nice and heavy so they get really cold (this is the same style that physical therapists use/sell). If you are not used to this type of cold you may need a towel or two between you and the pack at first but you will get used to it.

My only complaint is that the seams are poorly constructed, and after a while they burst and brown goo oozes out. However, I have found a solution that I used on my most recent purchase, and it's still holding up 1 year later. Before you ever put the pack in the freezer, use electrical tape to reinforce all the seams. This is the only thing that helps! It's too bad that you have to do this, but it really works and it's worth the few minutes that it takes to do this.

I have purchased 3 Colpacs, which I use daily in icing after rehab. All three came apart at the seams only a few weeks after purchase and the gunk inside comes out and gets all over everything. I originally purchased the Colpacs over other ice packs, even though they were more expensive because I thought would be a quality product. And since I use them daily, I needed something that would last. My Colpacs are all now covered with duct tape all around the seams and that stuff still seems to escape. It is smeared all over my pants right now, which is why I decided to post this. I can't believe all the positive reviews for this product. All I can think of is that there has been a fairly recent drop in quality, or the other users are not using these things as often as I do.

Initially, I loved this ice pack. It is large enough to ice any area of my body. Shoulder front and back at the same time and lower back and hip. However, today one of the seams just opened up with no stress on it. I have emailed the seller and will update if and when I hear back. Four months use is pretty poor.
