5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent unit
I am responsible for providing the entertainment effects for a small bowling establishment here in Oshkosh. I found the VUE II on sale at a store that had all their Chauvet equipment on sale. 3.0 out of 5 stars Powerhouse of a light with some annoyances
This light is great for a small club. It fills a room with light and motion. That being said the lack of true controlability can be a bit of a drawback. It has a series of dip switches on the reverse that are supposed to allow for full control but that doesnt work very well on the fly. The strobe effects could easliy send someone into an epilectic fit. But for the money...

I am responsible for providing the entertainment effects for a small bowling establishment here in Oshkosh. I found the VUE II on sale at a store that had all their Chauvet equipment on sale. I went in and had the clerks hook it up, and all I can say is that it pretty much blew me away. The sensitivity response is phenomenal, and the coverage area is excellent. The house I set it up in is an 8 lane bowling alley, and I did not have a location near the speakers to set it up at. That worried me, as I have set up other lighting equipment, and they have almost got to be touching the speakers to get them to react with the music. I set it up in the middle of the settee area anyway and plugged a couple bucks into the jukebox. It works fantastic. I personally am very happy with the purchase of this unit, and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to establish a party atmosphere at a very reasonable price. There are no moving parts, and the LED's are projected to last over 10,000 hours, so the maintenance cost will be next to nil, maybe an occasional cleaning off of the dust and a wipe of the lens. Power consumption is also very low. The unit may look large, and it is, but it is extremely light, and with no moving parts there is no concern about mounting bolts working loose. Simply find a spot that will support the weight, and away you go. It is also plenty bright, illuminating the pin area of the lanes which are over 60 feet away from the unit.

If you have been thinking that LED lighting does not have enough output to light a room, wait until you turn this light on. In automatic sound-active mode it sequences through a long series of fantastic patterns that do resemble fireworks. Each change in the patterns is triggered by the beat of the music. I unpacked my VUE III and had this in my living room on a sunny afternoon and it was very bright. Later in the dark it was blinding and the strobe effects; very hypnotic.
I waited almost 2 months for this light to show up after the product announcment and it was worth the wait.
It is so amazing, I ordered a second unit for my other light stand. It should be fun to connect to the DMX controller and write some chases
for it. I do admit it is an odd shaped box but is so lightweight, I don't expect any problems mounting it high up on a light stand. Enjoy!

With a new price tag of $109 or less (I see it for $100 all over the internet) there is no reason not to have this light part of your set up. Works good. DMX & LED!!!! Easily worth $179.
