Editorial Reviews

Review

"The Cheap Book makes pinching pennies fun, and that's key to changing people's behavior. This is a terrific book, particularly for families looking to embrace their inner cheapskates and have some laughs in the process." -- --Jeff Yeager, author of The Ultimate Cheapskate's Road Map to True Riches

"With all the gloomy talk about recessions and financial stress, it's refreshing and fun to read this eye-rollingly silly, yet resource-filled handbook." -- --Kara McGuire in the Star Tribune, Minneapolis, Minnesota

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap Review..., March 8, 2008
By Carrie Boswell "Carrie & Jeff" (Downtown Minneapolis) - See all my reviews
Herbst & Miller have the right idea. Use only what you need. Cheap is good. It helps everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comical, practical, and educational, March 7, 2008
This is a great read - very entertaining. The Cheap Book captures the whimisical side of being cheap, and I giggled at those things I recognize in myself while taking note of new tips. I have enjoyed every page of it, and even my daughters have exclaimed "Mom does that too!" Everyone can identify with this book and if you can't, you should learn to! I plan to give copies to my cheap friends and co-workers and especially to my wasteful associates. I highly recommend this book. Every household should have a copy as a reference!

1.0 out of 5 stars Total ripoff, October 21, 2008
This book slaps the face of anyone serious about saving money or the living the frugal lifestyle. Most of the tips are utterly common knowledge and some of them involve dishonesty such as confiscating office supplies afterhours at work and picking up coffee creamer and plastic utensils from the company cafeteria. Stealing is not frugalness. Save your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Poor Richard's Almanac II
Super Book! It accomplishes four things: 1) pokes fun at "friends", 2) provides a mirror as you see yourself, 3) Ben Franklin would smile at these tips, 4) Very entertaining!
