Book Description

0810826488 978-0810826489 June 1993
While other video production books concentrate on the technical, 'how-to' approach, this on takes the 'why-to' perspective. Starting with an analysis of the potential audience, the author then outlines basic equipment needs, sources of funding and free talent, effective scriptwriting, translating the script into an edited production, and recognizing when you've finished the job. Saving money while producing a quality product is a bonus, and this book points out ways to use imagination and proven techniques to create worthwhile productions inexpensively. Many books are available on videotape production, but this is the first to address non-profit agencies as a user group.

About the Author

Pat Kardas worked at the Racine Public Library, WI for 20 years, but it was in 1981 that video became a major part of her professional life. From then until her retirement in 1989, she was producer, director, editor, and clean-up crew of off-air tapings, conversion of 16mm films to video, and original programming for the library's collection of local history, how-to, and educational tapes. She now runs her own business, Writers Ink, edits newsletteers, is active in community theatre, and contributes articles to newspapers and magazines.
