Great follow-on / companion to Paper Clips. Breaks risk taking down into manageable bites. Recognizes the fearful elements and offers an interesting metaphor to apply. First paper clips, now chopsticks; I wonder what metaphor Ms. Greenlee will find to help me/us out next!

The illustrations are friendly and engaging, too.

I sincerely hope that Harry will hear about this book (hey! everyone who knows someone named Harry, give him a copy of this book!) [when you read the Introduction I'm sure you'll feel this way, too!].

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!! A POWERFUL AND INSPIRING MESSAGE, March 3, 2007
This review is from: Cheaper Than Therapy: How to Take Risks to Create the Life You Want: The Lesson of the Chopsticks (Hardcover)
AWESOME!! A POWERFUL AND INSPIRING MESSAGE

"How to Take Risks to Create the Life - The Lesson of the Chopsticks" is a BRILLIANT use of metaphor for anyone on the brink of a life transformation or anyone who simply is ready to experience a different approach to an age-old problem -- fear. Ms. Greenlee's skillful use of the chopsticks as a metaphor for taking risks creates an instant connection to the infinite possibilities available to all of us.

As a family therapist, I can attest to the difficulty that many of us face when confronted with the idea of trying something different or new. The fear of criticism, rejection, self-doubt and the myriad of other inhibit us from pursuing our dreams with passion and living an authentic life. Ms. Greenlee not only helps us start the healing journey to overcome fear, with her unique lesson in using chopsticks, but she also provides the strategy to apply these insights in our lives.

This is a must read for anyone who is ready to explore the possibilities and learn to use chopsticks! I am sharing this little book with all my friends and clients.

I anxiously await Ms. Greenlee's next pearl of wisdom.

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE! Great Read with practical advise, May 4, 2007
This review is from: Cheaper Than Therapy: How to Take Risks to Create the Life You Want: The Lesson of the Chopsticks (Hardcover)
What a great way to bring home the life lesson: "There are no great rewards without taking risks". This book, although small in size, is big on practical advice on how to achieve your growth potential. I am amazed at Gina Greenlee's ability to get to the heart of why we shun change or opportunities to improve our lives. You can tell that she has been there and walked the walk. Her book is timely for me as I am learning finally to face some of my own fears and anxieties. Whenever I get those unsettled feelings that she refers to, I can grab this book and in less than 20 minutes I get the encouragement I need to take on the challenge. The rewards ARE immediate: I gain the satisfaction of facing my fear and doing "it" anyway. Also, the seed of hope grows when I say to myself, "see, you can do this! And yes, it is cheaper than therapy. I highly recommend this book to everyone. Everyone has areas in their lives that they need to enlarge.

Although this is the second of a series, I read this first as I was intrigued by the title. I couldn't put it down and the illustrations drove the author's message home. I enjoyed it immensely and now plan to read the first book in the "Cheaper Than Therapy" series. Gina, when's the third one coming out?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book to Have, January 30, 2007
This review is from: Cheaper Than Therapy: How to Take Risks to Create the Life You Want: The Lesson of the Chopsticks (Hardcover)
This is one of my favorite books that I have at my office for my employees to read. I feel that everyone is able to get something positive from this book. The idea of trying a new approach at something like eating with chop sticks can be applied to any new project that you are about to do. Again this is one that I try to have everyone I know read.

Chopsticks is a "must read" for coaches. Using the metaphor of learning to use chopsticks, Greenlee offers a simple, yet poignant way to get us to look inward to create the life we want. The book also makes a great client gift to kick-off a coaching engagement.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Inspirational Kick, January 30, 2007
By
This review is from: Cheaper Than Therapy: How to Take Risks to Create the Life You Want: The Lesson of the Chopsticks (Hardcover)
Cheaper Than Therapy: The Lesson of the Chopstick is an inspirational kick for those thinking about making a change or taking a risk in their lives. Greenlee's style is a delightful easy read exploring our unrealistic fears in trying something new. Her worst case scenario's are humorous while her positive side to taking a chance poignant. She leaves her readers with a belief in the process as well as themselves.

Cheaper Than Therapy: The Lesson of the Chopstick is a must read for anyone on the verge, in the process, or have completed taking a chance.

From it's engaging bright red cover to the clear flow of metaphor, this charming little book speaks in a way that everyone can glean something. When my husband said that he was ready to learn to use chopsticks because he got how it would help him in other ways (after reading the book!) I just smiled. That one's for you, Ms. Greenlee.

I was very excited to read Ms. Greenlee's newest book. After reading "The Lesson of the Paper Clips" I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. This review is from: Cheaper Than Therapy: How to Take Risks to Create the Life You Want: The Lesson of the Chopsticks (Hardcover)
This second offering by Ms. Greenlee is as motivational as the first one. With both books there is something zenlike about how easy it could be to overcome an obstacle, to learn something new, take on a challenge, or organize a life. This is why I enjoy her books so much. And on top of all that, she actually gives you the step by step directions on how to really use chopsticks. Imagine being able to accomplish all that and never need a fork to eat again. Simply amazing!
