5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Writers Reference Book Yet!
This is one of the most informative books I have read yet on the subject of writing. Don't let the title fool you, there is far more here than writing erotic fiction.

This was a total waste of my money and time. I bought it because of her blog. Could of saved my money and stuck with the blog. She gives the same advice.

As a fiction writer I've had a library of books come and go over the years. The two keepers have been The Marshall Plan for Novel Writers (just because I'm anal about having a "system") and this book, The Cheater's Guide.

Ms. Hawke titles the book as being for writers of the erotic and, yes, she covers that aspect, though not in depth. If you're looking for a book on how to write smut - and she calls herself a writer of smut - oddly enough you won't find it here.

This book is all about relationships. Yes, there's the sexual angle, but sex is an hour of fun, now what do you do with the rest of your day or the book you're writing for that matter?

She covers the mechanics of writing far better than most. The only thing missing, to my mind, is a writing system, hence Marshall.

To review this work properly I'd have to include it here. I won't.

Just go buy this book, read it, read it again, read it a third time, and every year for the rest of your writing life. And most importantly: Use the information, apply it to your own writing. You'll be a better writer for it.

Don't be fooled by the title - this book covers a lot more than erotic romance. Sharp, witty, and informative, this is one for the writer tool kit!

5.0 out of 5 stars Still the Best, June 5, 2010

This is the first book of its kind that I bought and (lots of books later) it's still the best one. A must have! It's logical and easy to follow while peppered with good humour. My writing improved immediately from using the things I learned in it.

Just so the potential buyer is clear, this is not a professionally typeset or printed book. It is a photocopied and bound set of 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of white paper. It's difficult to follow--more like a set of handouts than a "book." Also please note that at the time of this writing, this seller does not take returns so you get what you pay for. I remain very disappointed. The writer seems to be self-publishing her own romance novels, so you're not really getting the benefit of someone who has mastered the genre to the standards of a bigger publishing house. Is there good information here? Probably, but it's hard to get to.
