4.0 out of 5 stars A Troubled Life, March 20, 2006
Any wrestling fan knows Eddie Guerrero had personal troubles and addictions. This book presents those to the fans in a rememberance of his life. This may be among the best of the wrestling auto'biographies' out there currently. With his tragic and sudden death, we glimpse into the professional life and are revealed some of his more personal moments. The book covers Eddie's career from wrestling in Juarez and Tijuana, Mexico up into EMLL & AAA, to Japan where he meets Chris Benoit, breaks into wrestling in the U.S. with ECW to WCW to WWF/E.

He covers his friendships, relations with his brothers, addictions, his wife and daughters, and being fired by the WWE. We get some of Eddie's opinions on various fellow wrestlers and we follow his career up until he wins the WWE championship. A lot of ground is covered in the roughly 330 page book and there are some great pictures too. Maybe the best thing about the book, much of the proceeds didn't go back to the WWE but rather went to Vicki and Eddie's children.

The release of this book is so much more gratifying than a number of the wrestling biographies that are flooding the market. After reading it, you'll be touched and will remember many of the other wrestlers who have died prematurely such as Crash Holly, Louie Spicolli, Brian Pillman, etc. The WWE could have shown much more grace to the memory of Eddie Guerrero with the release and promotion of this book rather than the constant whoring out of his name on live television. Using his name in an ill-begotten angle is simply degrading to the career of one of the best workers in the business.

R.I.P Eddie.

5.0 out of 5 stars In Honor of a passionate wrestler by Nick W., February 16, 2006
A Kid's Review
"They say that the true measure of a man is determined not by how many times he falls down, but by how many times he picks himself back up." This describes Eddie's life so well. Eddie's life was filled with many difficult struggles from his battles with drug addiction to alcohol abuse. He had overcome advirsity while making his way through WCW, ECW, and finally, his dream of the WWE. He loved the business with all his heart, but overcame his demons through the help of his family, friends, and his new faith in God. In the book he decribed his many roads of challenges and finally his triumph of becoming the WWE champion, which was his lifelong dream. Eddie had dreamed of becoming a WWE champion since he was young, wrestling with his nephew Chavo during intermission at his fathers wrestling matches. It was an outstanding story of the life a of man whose life was cut short much too soon. He will be missed by not only his family and friends, but by the multitude of fans who admired him as a wrestler and as a champion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, June 20, 2006
I love the Cheat Death Stealing Life: The Eddie Guerrero story book because it was a very emotional, beautifully writing page turner. I knew he had a lot of problems with drugs and alcohol but I never knew it stemmed that far. This was a five star book, but if I had my way I would double that. That's how great it was. I really hope for the people who haven't purchased this book yet, do so now because you are missing out on a great person.

Even if the wrestling world wasnt robbed of one of itsfinestest and Eddie was still with us.
This book would be a must read , if not for any other reason than to read about how one man managed to get his life back in order and face and conquor his demons in the process .
This book does and will for many years sit proudly atop my collection of wrestling related items .
Even if you think you've learnt all there was to learn about Guerrero through his DVD ,this book will and does offer over many more( some very personal)aspects of the man .
A must read for anyone ,wrestling fan or not

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have Item for Eddie's Fans, March 19, 2006
A great book for Eddie Guerrero's fans. The book itself portrays his life and how he dealt with his problems. It also includes rare pictures that fans would love it. A great tribute for the late Eddie Guerrero.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Champion In Life, As Well As In the Ring, February 23, 2006
By
The late, great Eddie Guerrero pulls no punches in this story of his life. In fact, there are times that I wondered how Eddie could be so honest about the things he went through, it takes true courage and conviction to reveal so many details - but for all of us who watched Eddie over the years, this isn't a surprise. Eddie remains a very strong inspiration personally - and I'm sure his millions of fans would agree.

I read this book quickly, it's a very engaging read and it helped me immensely with my grief over us losing Eddie. Imagine that, even in death Eddie still being a strong source of encouragement. A wonderful example of strong faith in God being enough to overcome any demons that are encountered in life. Eddie - your fans will always love you and remember you, thank you for being such a wonderful example for us of always having a chance, no matter what our circumstances, to make our lives better.

VIVA LA RAZA!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Eddie, we hardly knew you...., February 15, 2006
Eddie Guerrero is another great wrestler that was gone too soon. I really appreciate the honesty and cold hard facts that Eddie provided in his life story. It wasn't done in a way where he blames everyone else for his addictions and deamons, but rather he looks into himself. I picked up the book after his untimely death and reading about his life and the revelations he has and Eddie's spirituality in the last few pages makes it hard to take in that Eddie had to die when he was so ready to live. Sometimes things happen for a reason, and maybe Eddie's life wasn't all stardust and wonderful memories, but you have to appreciate his willingness to realize that he can't do it alone. He shows that in this life we need family and friends to help us make it. The book shows that his memory will live on.
Via Condios Eddie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lying to Vickie, Cheating Death, Stealing Life!, August 3, 2006
Now that I got your attention... I just finished the book minutes ago, and it was very inspirational to say the least.

Now at first, I was hesitant getting his book, even after he passed away. I had the impression that the book will be mostly somber, due to his infamous demons, but I gave it a shot and bought it anyway, still expecting a better book from Edge. But after reading it, I can say that this is way better(not saying that Edge's book is not good, its still great). Yes, it is somber in some ways, but its also inspirational, fun, and got some very funny parts! Funnier than Edge's book I dare say.

His life is a good example of overcoming hardships in life, and even though his past still sucker punched him in the end, with this book along with his popularity as a wrestler, still won the day for him. What he wants is to set as an example, and though this isnt what all of us expected, in some strange ways, it did the job.

Aside from that, this book talks about his family, which even to someone like me who dislikes reading that side of an autobiography, finds it entertaining. From his tough dad; to his problems with his brothers; down to his beloved Vicky. Wrestling is all throughout this book, its his life from birth to the end. The book tells his time in Mexico, Japan, then to US with ECW, WCW, and finally WWE.

If there is a fault I can say about this book, its how it summarizes certain events first, then without warning goes back to the start of those events and tell it one by one, which in a way confused me a little... It made me think, "hey didnt he say he did it before? Why say this is the first time?... Oh"... Again, nothing serious.

I suggest you get this book now if youre a fan of wrestling, and know of Eddie(whether you like him or not)! Eddie, you should be proud, even if things didnt work out how you wanted it to be(how we want it to be), you still inspired and touched us all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, April 18, 2006
This book was one of the best wrestling books I have ever read, and I have read most of them. It is heartbreaking to hear all that he went through and all that he had planned only to pass away at such a young age. He overcame so much, and found love with his wife and girls all over again. It is such an inspiration to read about his life and trying to live up to the Guerrero legacy. I would recommend it to wrestling fans and non fans alike. It's just that good.
