It's Check-Up Time, Elmo! (Sesame Street)

My 18-month old loves this book, reads it over and over, and now puts her head to my chest to hear my heart and says "thump thump". We have fun playing through each of the things that the doctor is doing to Elmo: checking his ears,mouth, tummy, back, heart, he gets weighed and measured for height, and at the end he gets a shot...Elmo points to his arm and says "it went right here, It felt like a little pinch, that's all." There's a corresponding Elmo doll which we haven't tried yet but will.

My grandson was terrified to go to the pediatrican. He screamed when he went to the office, would not take his clothes off, and refused to weighed or measured. He loves Elmo, so I bought this book for his second birthday which was just a few days before his two year old checkup. We read the book to him and my daughter took it to the appointment. The encounter was unremarkable. He let them do everthing they wanted with no tears or screams. I recommend this for anyone with young children who are afraid of going to the doctor.

Bought this for my son when he was 18mth old He was terrified every time we visited the doctor. Since he is an die hard fan of Sesame Street, seeing Elmo smile, laugh, and converse lovingly with the doctor has help ease his tensions. He knows doctors are there to help, not hurt, and I guess he figures if Elmo does it, it must not be bad.

Synopsis: Elmo goes to doctor for a checkup, sees a sick friend in the waiting area, meets Nurse Rhonda who handles a few things (blood pressure, eye chart, etc), then meets Dr. Diane who checks his heart, breathing, etc and gives him a shot to "keep him healthy". When my daughter was due for her 18-month well visit, I purchased this to prepare her, along with a doctor kit. We "played doctor" every day until the visit. Needless to say, it worked -- no issues at the doc's office (unlike her 12-month, which was torture), and she even willingly accepted a "shot". One great thing about this book is how it describes what the nurse and the doctor do separately. So when a friend's daughter was having issues going to the doctor (because having to deal with the nurse surprised her), I immediately made this purchased and gave her the book. And I *heard* that it worked! Another win for Elmo!

I got this to accompany a doctor's kit for my 2-year-old. He really was able to put two-and-two together between the kit and the book. Then, when we went to the pediatrician when he was sick, he kept asking if we were seeing Elmo's doctor. I kept reminding him about reading it in Elmo's book as the doctor wanted to do various things like check his throat or his heartbeat.

My daughter is scared of the Dr's office so I purchased this book to hopefully calm her fears. She loves Elmo and the book managed to keep her attention almost the entire way through.

I bought this book for my nephew for christmas. The product was exactly as expected after reading the reviews. It is not the type of book that will hold up well under a younger child's hands, but is very cute and entertaining if an adult holds it or if the child is a little older. I bought this book because my nephew is obsessed with elmo. This is a very detailed book that goes into elmo getting an abdominal exam, having his back checked (probably for scoliosis), and finally getting a shot. I can see it helping kids who have fears of going to the doctor, because elmo goes too!

Cute book. It helped my grandson to learn about what happens at the doctor's office. He really liked the book.

I brought this along with the Elmo Medical Kit. It very simple and easy to read, especially for 3-4 year olds.

Great to read before a well check at the doctor's office. I actually like that the book describes Elmo getting a shot. I like that several factors are addressed: shots hurt, the pain is temporary and shots prevent illness. We have other books that gloss over this issue or simply fail to mention shots...and at least in my family, they are an inevitability.
