CheckIt Registry Cleaner is designed to make it simple and safe for novice computer users to clean out their registry. The product searches for bad registry entries, lists them and fixes them. Users can search for only certain registry entries such as Invalid File Associations, Uninstall, and Help entries to fix. We will have a full version and two versions of trialware. One version will find all bad registry entries but will not clean them and one will find them all but only clean the first 50 entries. The scan-only version should be used on our site as a downloaded allowing the user scan their machine and then buy/activate it to the full version. Features: 1. Easy Wizard interface. 2. Repairs System errors. 4. Complete Undo ¿ Easily restore changes made by CheckIt Registry Cleaner. The program displays a list with dates and times of all changes it made to the registry. Choose an Undo File based on the date and restore your registry to that configuration. 5. Automatic back-ups made for all changes initiated by CheckIt Registry Cleaner. 6. Specialized settings allow user to; Start when system boots up, Start scan when CheckIt Registry Cleaner starts, Start minimized in system tray, and Automatically repair items. 7. Has uninstaller to make removing the product easier.

There is are support sections for the dozens of products that Smith Micro distributes on their website, but no support section for this specific product.

Downloaded the demo and ran it on my fairly new Vista system. The demo doesn't fix any of the problems it found, which is fine. (After all, they want you to buy the product.)

What bothered me is that the demo refers to every single one of the hundreds of things it claims to have found as an "infection" ...which is ridiculous. Most stray junk in the registry is trivial and harmless.

This dishonest scare tactic, together with the lack of support, made me decide not to buy it.

This registry cleaner only did small, partial job then required update
for more money. I tried to delete it and it keps coming back like a
virus. There was nothing on the container to indicate the disc would
not do a complete job of cleaning th4e registry. There are other better
products.

I paid for the full version from Compusa. Well, it is only a "trial" version which can not fix any problems. It could not be registered and the install did not ask for serial numbers. The help desk submittal system is a bag of maggots and does not allow help tickets to be submitted. They do not respond to emails. So, if you can not register, you are SOL. Compusa also refused me a refund, so I am stuck with a worthless product, out [...], and I am pursuing a fraud chargeback with Amex. Several hours and a major headache invested and nothing to show for it.
