The Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum), June 18, 2003
This review is from: Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) Pt.1 (Enhance (Audio CD)
The fact that this was a massive European hit only further proves that ANYONE can obtain chart success on the other side of the Atlantic. That being said, "The Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)" exceeds the stupidity of "Macarena" and "Cotton Eyed Joe", which is probably why the U.S. has yet to bring the single into their market. It's so horribly ridiculous, so awfully written, so disgustingly performed, yet long after you've hit the stop button you find yourself singing "touch my bum/this is life". A 10-year-old could come up with this on a simple Casio keyboard- a generic 4/4 disco beat, a few synth rips here and there. A Casio may not allow you to digitalize vocals, and it may be difficult to find awful singers with heavy Romanian accents, but the general formula is ready and available for anyone to utilize. Welcome to novelty pop music- 2003-style!

This is a catchy little tune. A fun one to dance to. Get it when you can.

A fine slice of fluffy, meaningless novelty pop!, March 10, 2003
This review is from: Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) Pt.1 (Enhance (Audio CD)
It doesn't get more ridiculous than this! These girls really aren't musically inclined at all, but the song does serve a good purpose. With all that is going on in today's world, and with all of the anti-war music being produced, the 'Cheeky Song' is a nice, temporary escape from all of the emotional depth and heavy lyrics. This song is easy and fun to sing-a-long to, and is a great way to just relax. It's a no-brainer, and sometimes that's just what people need. Don't expect this song to be released in the U.S, though. Americans aren't really into this kind of stuff, and there really isn't room in the U.S. music market for the Cheeky Girls. Canada gets a version of this retail single in a few weeks, and I'll probably buy it. This single was huge in Britain, but a big flop in Australia. Hopefully Canadians will take to the Cheeky Song!
