Book Description

March 22, 2011 8 and up3 and upCheesie Mack
"Cheesie Mack is a true original." —Gordon Korman, bestselling author of Swindle and Schooled

Ronald "Cheesie" Mack is not a genius or anything, but he remembers everything that happened before, during, and after fifth-grade graduation, and he's written it all down in his own unique and hilarious way—with lots of lists, drawings, and splenderful (that's splendid plus wonderful!) made-up words.

Cheesie—with a little help from Steve Cotler—writes about family, friendship, and tough choices in an unforgettable voice that will have kids laughing out loud. Readers of Diary of a Wimpy Kid will love both the clever humor and the black-and-white illustrations throughout.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Cheesie Mack Is Not a Genius or Anything (Hardcover)
I am sure that I was one of the first to read this book, and there fore, as a a Cheesie Mack veteran, I can attest to the fact that it is excellent! It will make you feel like a fifth grader in Cheesie's world. It is fun, unique, exiting... just a great book all around. Kudos for Mr. Cotler for deciding to share this story! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars great read !, July 13, 2011

This review is from: Cheesie Mack Is Not a Genius or Anything (Hardcover)
It is end of the school year for fifth graders Ronald "Cheesie" Mack and his friend Georgie. They learn they can't afford to go to summer camp they have both gone to for several years. Then there is the discovery in the basement while looking for spiders to scare his older sister with. A great summer story of friends, adventures, humor and a 1909 penny. As a librarian, I am head- over-heels with the quality of the writing of this book, the great characters and story and the tremendous appeal to boys (and girls) this book has. You can also visit the character's web site too! another great aspect of the book

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Series for Boys, May 30, 2011
This review is from: Cheesie Mack Is Not a Genius or Anything (Hardcover)
I am always looking for a new book series to recommend to boys who read Diary of a Wimpy Kid, so I decided to try this one out. It is the story of "Cheesie" Mack who just graduated from 5th grade. He has an older sister who is constantly fighting with him. His best friend Georgie lives right behind him. They have a lot going on, such as a crisis about summer camp and something they find in Georgie's basement.

While it maybe wasn't as fun to read as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, it was still a cute book. It would appeal to boys who are in 4-6 grade. There are not really any pictures or drawings, just the occasional small picture of a person or something like a sandwich, so it is a step up from chapter books with pictures in it. There are a lot of references to his webpage. These started getting annoying to me, but I am also not the target audience. I did go to the page, and it seems like it is good for kids who are into this book.

While I don't think this book will end up with the following of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, it is still a good one to recommend to boys who are looking for more.
