The ceiling plate for this mount swivels a full 90 degrees. This allows you to place the plate IN your ceiling and mount it to the side of a ceiling beam. This allows you to use 4 screws to attach the plate to the beam rather than 2 screws typically used to attach to the end of the beam. The pole then drops from the plate and passes through a 2.5" hole you cut in the drywall of your ceiling. When you look at the ceiling, all you see is a single 2.5" hole with your ceiling mount pole coming out of it. This is a very clean installation look. All the cables run through the pole and directly into the ceiling. The interior diameter of the poles is over 2" allowing all of your power and AV cables to run through the poles. The same swivel plate that allows in-ceiling, side-beam installation also accommodates vaulted or angled ceilings.
The extension pole has a minimum length of 31" and a maximum length of 54". Typically, the TV end of the extension pole is in approximately the middle of the back of your TV. Thus, how close the top of your TV is from the ceiling depends on the height of your TV. For a typical 50" TV, the top of your TV would be about 15" from the ceiling in the minimum position and 38" at maximum extension if you mount flush with the ceiling. If you mount in-ceiling to the side of a ceiling beam, subtract approximately 8".
At the TV end of the very sturdy extension pole is the best-selling tilting wall mount sold on eBay over the last year. It uses 2mm metal to support your TV without any flexing. This is a complete kit including the ceiling plate, extension pole, TV mount adapter, TV mount, installation instructions and all necessary hardware. We feel this is the best ceiling mount sold on eBay for 32"-55" Flat Panel TVs.

This review is from: Cheetah Mounts APLCMB Plasma LCD TV Tilt And Swivel Ceiling Mount for 32 to 63-Inch (Black) (Electronics)
Ok I don't know where to start, as far as pieces go everything ever needed is included as far as mounting different Tv's. The top bracket tilts for use on a vaulted ceiling however you can't get the screw tight enough to stop the tilt, which makes the tv look like it's taking a nose dive. The joint where the bars meet the swival bar is for junk, it bends alot at this joint, and no it's not supposed to bend. It hooks to the tv wonderfully, however the tv seams a little top heavy. We have the back bracket up all the way (on our 50 inch tv) there is a tilt divice but it is NOT needed because the tv tilts/pulls away from the top of the bar. The bar is in no way straight up and down. The tv sits at a tilt of more than 15 degrees without the tilt device tilted any. The 360 degree swival works but as you turn the tv around the bar freaks out and makes you think the tv is going to hit the floor. I would not purchase this again, and now we have nothing to hang our Tv. I guess the biggest mistake in the design are the bars, there just not right. Sorry cheetah company but I just couldn't give this a good review. However if you reemburse me I'll give you as a company a good review.

poorly designed mount,

This review is from: Cheetah Mounts APLCMB Plasma LCD TV Tilt And Swivel Ceiling Mount for 32 to 63-Inch (Black) (Electronics)
I was replacing my 42 inch Panasonic plasma TV to a new Samsung LED TV. Because I needed to lower the TV about 12 inches, I purchased this mount. The Ceiling mount is worthless for mounting in a single 2x8 ceiling stud because they designed it with 4 holes that are stupidly 4 inches apart. This wouldn't even work for a double stud! I mounted mine diagonal using only 2 of the holes. There are 2 machine screws to hold the extension to the ceiling plate and four more to hold the TV mount to the extension but only ONE LOUSY BOLT for a friction plate that keeps the whole thing from crashing down!!!!

too large/long to use for home,

This review is from: Cheetah Mounts APLCMB Plasma LCD TV Tilt And Swivel Ceiling Mount for 32 to 63-Inch (Black) (Electronics)
We bought this mount to hang the TV in the media room. The problem is it was entirely too large/long to use for home. The main shaft is so long the LCD HDTV would be at the level of my waist/knees. There is no way to adjust it to the right height. I had to take it to a hardware store, and cut it short.
