Book Description

8 and up3 and up
When the eccentric Blanche Porter reports that her beloved Mr. Cheeters has vanished, it isn't your standard missing persons case. As Nancy Drew soon discovers, Mr. Cheeters, is a pet chimp. Or is he? Based on a preliminary investigation and information obtained from Blanche's brother, Lawrence, the River Heights police dismiss the case as bogus - doubting that there ever was a Mr. Cheeters to begin with. But when Nancy Drew discovers there's a missing diamond necklace as well - she's on the case! Can Nancy, along with Bess and George, recover the great ape and the necklace, or has Blanche Porter made a monkey out of Nancy Drew?  Ages 8 to 12.

About the Author

Stefan Petrucha, script
Stefan Petrucha's been writing comics and novels for - whoa! A really, really long time. A lot of his stuff tends to be pretty scary, like Topp's X-Files comic, or his graphic novel, Kolchak: The Devil in the Details (which was nominated for a Stoker award in 2003!), but then again he's also written over 150 Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck comics for Egmont Publishing in Denmark. He's also signed a four book deal with Penguin's new teen imprint, Razorbill, to revive his incredibly cool comic creation, Squalor, in novel form. He lives in Westchester County, NY with his two daughters, Maia and Margo (both of whom he hopes will be reading these Nancy Drew graphic novels), and his wife and fellow writer, Sarah.

Sho (Sei) Murase, Illustration
Sho is half Japanese and half Korean but her first language is Spanish because she grew up in Spain. She moved from Europe to Vancouver and from Vancouver to Maverix Studios in California, where she works in animation and draws comics that won't leave her enough time to sleep. She is the author of "Sei, Death and Legend" published by Image Comics and is currently also working on her own graphic novel series "ME2" for Tokyopop.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Our Apes is Missing..., July 11, 2011

This review is from: Mr. Cheeters is Missing (Nancy Drew Graphic Novels: Girl Detective #6) (Paperback)
"Mr. Cheeters is Missing" is installment #6 in the graphic novel series featuring Nancy Drew, girl detective. The series updates the popular novels by Carolyn Keene, reimagining teenagers Nancy Drew, her best friends Bess and George, and boyfriend Ned into 21st Century River Heights.

As the story opens, Nancy gets involved in the disappearance of Mr. Cheeters, the pet chimpanzee of the wealthy but very eccentric Mrs. Blanche Porter. Seems Mr. Cheeters went missing while wearing a very expensive diamond necklace. Nancy and her friends take up the search. The trail of clues leads to Mrs. Porter's evasive brother Lawrence, a dying circus run by an rather evil clown, and a death-defying helicopter ride...

"Mr. Cheeters is Missing" is a surprisingly good story with plenty of twists and turns, and a chance for Nancy to do some real detective work. It is highly recommended to the latest generation of Nancy Drew fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nancy Drew Mr. Cheeters is Missing, July 10, 2010

This review is from: Mr. Cheeters is Missing (Nancy Drew Graphic Novels: Girl Detective #6) (Paperback)
First the way the story opens with Bess sneezing about her stuff animals I thought the Mr. Cheeters that goes missing in the story would be a stuff animal. Much to my surprise it deals with a missing pet monkey whose owner husband hated the ape and a series of spooky circus people right in the middle of everything. Its an action pack story of jewel thieves, pet napping and wondering if the ape is real or just a figment of a woman's imagination.
