Great Content, Watch for Duplicates and VHS Transfers,
By Minister of Sinister (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cheezy Horror , Vol. 1 (DVD)
Cheezy put together a really fun package here - but instead of trying to stretch their catalog between two volumes, might have been better off combining what they had into one uber volume for a slightly higher price ... or perhaps we're just spoiled by Synapse Films' great 42nd Street Forever and 42nd Street Forever, Vol 2: The Deuce products!
Content covers a lot of ground, from previews for great old b/w numbers like The Old Dark House, Curse of the Demon and The Tingler to 50s drive in spectaculars, to the lurid, blood-drenched titles that likely drew most of us in. Be warned that Cheezy tries to stretch its library by duplicating some of the trailers on both volumes - sometimes within the same volume! (Humanoids from the Deep definitely appears twice on Volume 1), and some of the prints scream "fullscreen VHS", but this is largely counteracted by both the programs themselves and the extra cool additional trailers to be found under "Also From Cheezy Flicks" and "Intermission" from the main menu. Stay Scared!!! Minister of Sinister

The other reviewers are correct- duplicates abound!,

I actually ordered the entire Cheezy Trailers library from Netflix recently. Nearly every disc (with the exclusion of Cheezy Exploitation) has duplicate trailers on them...and some of the discs (including Horror Vol. 1 & 2, Scifi 1 and Fantasy) have duplicates of the same movie trailer on the same disc. Did these folks even watch what they were adding to their product?
While many of the trailers decent quality you just can't overlook the numerous dubbed from video trailers (complete with authentic scan lines and squiggles and sometimes static from crash edits). On a positive note, you do get some interesting drive-in intermission reels on each disc which add to the variety (but once again, beware of duplicates). I work in the horror business and love wonderful old trailers, but I would have to warn against spending your money on these discs...you're better off renting them if you can.

Worth checking out if you have a little bit of extra money,
By Charlie (Philadelphia, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cheezy Horror , Vol. 1 (DVD)
I had a fun time watching this dvd but I wasn't blown away by it. There's a good mix of trailers, spanning from the 1950's - 1980's, some of them were for movies I'd never heard of. As a previous reviewer noted, some of the trailers are repeated during the program (I counted 3.) The picture quality mostly looked like vhs. This is a good compilation to pick up if you have a little bit of extra money, nothing to go out of your way for though.
