Product Description

Harissa - 10 oz Harissa is a classic table accompaniment in North African cooking and at the Moroccan table. Mustapha's harissa is the gold standard and nothing sold in here in the USA can really compare. Made mainly from Moroccan hot red chiles, red bell pepper, olive oil, a touch of tomato, oil, salt and spices. It is an essential accompaniment at the Moroccan table, and almost as ubiquitous as olives. Mustapha's harissa is served alongside couscous and tagines, it has an unforgettably intense, slow burn that will spice up any dish - each diner can stir it into the accompanying dish to suit personal taste. Its relatively salty quality takes to lifting the flavors of milder foods such as couscous. Serve tiny dabs of harissa as a piquant side sauce for grilled and roast meats and poultry, or use it as a general-flavor booster for stews, soups and sauces. If you're looking to create an authentic Moroccan or Tunisian meal, this is a classic accompaniment.

My husband is Moroccan and I have made efforts to recreate some of his favorite foods from home - as a result this harissa has become a #1 staple in the house, I don't know what i would do without it! When I first brought this home, he couldn't believe how good it was - he said it tasted as good as the ones from Morocco! He liked it so much that I gifted a few jars (it comes in very pretty, sturdy glass jars with gold metal lids, just as pictured) to his mom who has been here for 9 yrs - and she told me she had tried so many in the US and NONE came close to being as good as this one, it reminded her of what she would get back home. My husband likes it dabbed onto steak sandwiches; served along with roasted chicken; with lamb... I use it in bakoula (a spinach dish), and other assorted Moroccan veggie dishes I've learned to make. It goes with many things and is quite a versatile condiment, I highly recommend it.

I have ordered this product for years and love it, my entire family loves. Each time I order this however I receive Mustaph's Mediterranean Harissa which has a different consistency and taste. I still have some of the old Moroccan jars and can taste test all day long and there is a difference between the two products. What bothers me most is that my last three orders I have received a different product and I should have been advised that the lovely green labeled Harissa is no longer manufactured BUT distributed under a different name and feedback received by certain distributors is that there is a clear difference between the old and new product.

Crazy expensive on the shipping, but the Harissa is the best I've ever had. We have bought other brands, and they do not compare in quality. This item needs to go on Prime shipping.

Harissa is a very good spice and I love this particular one. It has a good, deep flavor, and while it is warm, it is not extremely hot. I recommend this harissa!

My family has been using THIS BRAND (Mustapha's) for years. When I use it to make a chicken dish of my own invention, my son does not simply 'ingest' it - my wife says he "inhales it." SUPERB and consistent quality. Currently 'not available' - but I hope it comes back.

Williams-Sonoma sells a SMALLER jar (8.2 oz.) for $13...!!!!

I used to buy mustaphas but for some reason its not the same. It really tastes bad and doesn't have the flavor I'm looking for in a harissa. I've made the transition to another brand I really like.

I have lived in France and was exposed to the Harissa that is available there, but this is not the same. Saltier, more watery and not as hot.It is delicious, though, and we are going through a jar of this every 2-3 weeks!
Very highly recommended!

good product but steep shipping rape $22 for a small bottle of harissa is too much to pay. when the price drops i'd buy . notice im rating the price not the actual product . 4 stars for the product.
