5.0 out of 5 stars best grinder ever!
I've been through a lot of salt and pepper grinders over the years, and was never happy with any of them. Most required too much effort to use and hurt my hands. Then I found this wonderful grinder, and have never looked back! It is so easy to squeeze that my arthritic fingers have no trouble with it! I just love this grinder! 3.0 out of 5 stars Easy to squeeze but has flaws
This product grinds salt and pepper with very little effort. The grip is comfortable, so it's very easy on your hands.

Caveats: It works best when full (otherwise the peppercorns just jump around since there's nothing pressing them down toward the grinding mechanism). I found refilling this a bit bit taxing--expect to make a mess. The opening is small and...

It looks cool, and having a salt and pepper grinder in one item is useful, but the plastic levers are fragile. They broke after being dropped on a cork floor.

3.0 out of 5 stars When you only have one hand, February 10, 2006
By
This review is from: Chef'n Dual Grinder (Kitchen)
Sometimes you only have one clean hand and you need to season something. That's when I reach for this. I also use it when I need to season something small quickly, like a single egg in a hot skillet. I have the large Magnum pepper mill too and that's what I reach for most, but this one has a place in my kitchen. It is very easy to use, but the output is light. If you have a lot to season, you'll be squeezing it for a while.

I agree with others in that filling it sucks. For the price, it think it's still a good deal because you get a salt grinder as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars flawed but essential, July 13, 2010
This review is from: Chef'n Dual Grinder (Kitchen)
Ours just broke- structural failure after three years. I used it all the time for cooking. Extremely handy. Add salt to pasta water, s & p to eggs, etc. etc. etc. all with one hand. One thing I came to appreciate is that the salt grinder worked in humid conditions that caused the shaker to clog. I have become so dependent on having it next to the stove that I'm going to have to get another right away. Worth the money, but they could improve it. Hope they do. Meanwhile, I don't see anything out there to replace it.

The concept is understandable, but the purpose is not. If you use this for cooking, good luck getting done with the right amount -- maybe this will finally give you the chance to do finger and foream exercise. If you are obsessed with keeping your cooking counter top or nice dining tablecloth clean, this product is certainly not for you, or maybe it is if you want to keep cleaning all the time. The inlets for refilling are small, you will need some sort of spout or funnel to accomplish refilling the compartments. It's OK for table setting, but that's it. If you cook for more than two people, the rotation grinder is better.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, but unreliable., December 19, 2009
This review is from: Chef'n Dual Grinder (Kitchen)
The dual grinder is a great idea, and worked well initially. However, the salt portion ceased working only months after purchase leaving this gadget to be only a pepper grinder. Then, after only modest use, the plastic handle snapped off.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, but takes forever to use., October 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chef'n Dual Grinder (Kitchen)
I like this idea of a dual salt and pepper grinder. And I liked the ease of use on this one, just a squeeze. It even had little levers at the bottom to adjust the coarseness of the grind. But I think the thing that puts me off to this is it takes forever to get the salt and pepper to come out in the quantities I want on my food. My pepper grinder just takes a few spins of the handle. This takes maybe a full 30 seconds to get the same amount of salt or pepper.

So this is good for someone who only likes small traces of salt or pepper, but not so good for the heavy salter and pepperer.

The refilling is pretty simple though, open the side doors and use a small funnel to get the salt and pepper inside. They are a little hard to open at first.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disapointed, January 17, 2008

I am disapointed. This looked a lot better than the traditional grinder's, so I thought I would try it. It takes too long to grind and not very much comes out at a time. I do like the easy loading doors.

2.0 out of 5 stars I bought the mini verson, January 27, 2007
This review is from: Chef'n Dual Grinder (Kitchen)
My wife an I saw this unit in a specialty store, thought is was pretty neat. Then we purchased it on Amazon. We like it for a number of reasons, it has a magnet that was handy for storing it on the bottom of our microwave oven, in reach for that quick launch of ground pepper. However, we hadn't used it more than maybe 10 times and the handle broke off! Now it is kaput! Can't fix it, etc. Piss poor quality control, but a nice idea!
