Now, I know what some of you are thinking, "How hard is it to slice an avocado, really?" I know! I thought the same thing before I used this tool. This is a great little tool by Chef'n, that perfectly slices nine thin uniform slices of avocado for you and also cuts it away from the skin as it does so!! How cool is that? Definitely worth a buy if you value thin uniform slices that make a nice presentation or if you are slicing a bunch of avocado for salads and burgers all summer long... zip, zip, zip, All done!!
The only thing I would recommend is, contrary to the instructions, start slicing your avocados from the narrower/smaller end. The handle is quite stiff so this makes it easier on you and it lets the tool do all the work. So basically, you squeeze the handle, insert into the avocado and then drag it through, allowing the handle to open up as you go along. Voila!! Perfect slices. Really nice tool from Chef'n!! I also highly recommend their VeggiChop manual food processor, which I did buy for myself, and is so great to be able to process small amounts without all the noise of an electric.
It made me realize that it's not *that* hard to slice an avocado with a paring knife... oh well.
You must squeeze it to the size of your avocado, then scoop really deep to get all the flesh.
I use this even when I want to mash my avocado, because it works better than a spoon to get everything out. If I do miss some, I just go back and scoop some more.
I took away a star because if you don't wash it immediately, it's very hard to clean and it just gets more and more nasty over time. Mine is badly discolored now. (I eat a lot of avocados.) This hasn't affected the performance, though.
I was excited to try this tool because I thought it would save my the hassle of washing both a knife and a scoop every time I used an avocado. I was also expecting this thing to deliver good looking, presentable avocado slices. To my disappointment, the tool is not easy to use with avocados unless they are REALLY firm. Once you get the "flexicado" about half way into the avocado half, it becomes difficult to drag it out as the avocado skin also looses integrity. If you watch the demo video carefully, you will even notice the host struggle with the metal version and end up with a sloppy result of avocado everywhere. This tool is essentially designed to work on really firm avocados. Who wants to eat unripe avocados? Certainly not I.

I'm not thrilled! I had hoped it worked a little differently. It seems like it's best use is for scooping out the contents to make guacamole. Read morePublished 7 months ago by Kimberly Hawkins
Slicer works well. Although looking at it, it's difficult to believe.
If you enjoy eating avocados this is definitely a handy tool
Half the time this ends up making a mess of our avocado. We've also had avocados that are too firm for this to press through although plenty ripe enough to eat for our tastes. Read morePublished 13 months ago by CASHCRAFT
