Wonderful Tool!,

I bought this grapefruiter because I have a 6 year old as well as a grandmother in the nursing home who both love grapefruit. They both need help sectioning it so I have always been on the look out for something to make this process easier and this is it. It only took me one try or two to find the perfect position to get the whole section of fruit out. It is a snap! I am buying another one as a gift.

Chef'n has done it again! I've owned this gadget for more than two years and can't live without it. I'm amazed this thing hasn't swept the globe. It's truly an incredible invention that makes quick work sectioning grapefruit. And it's actually fun to use! Just plunge the business end of the tool into the grapefruit (preferably so the edge of the blade is even with the edge of the grapefruit section), squeeze the handle, and pull the tool back out. Release the handle and a section of grapefruit falls out of the tool and into your bowl. You can section half a grapefruit in 30 seconds! It says it works on oranges, too, but haven't tried it yet.

I use the chef'n tool one or two times a day and it is quick and sharp. I read the 1 star reviews and they said it left part of the fruit behind which is true. But you can minimize the lost fruit by plunging the tool straight down keeping the tip of V the blade as close to the center as possible and then angeling the moving blade part of the tool to line up with the outside edge.
I had the Orka Grapefruit Cutter prior to the chef'n tool and it got more of the fruit, but also more of the peel which I didn't like and the Orka also took longer to core the grapefruit. My first chef'n tool lasted about 3 years, and I just bought another one. I am trying to keep it cleaner so the sticky dried grape fruit juice doesn't wear out the mechanism as quickly. I also lightly spray the mechanism monthly with PAM to keep it moving freely. (I may try throwing it in the dishwasher) I don't work for chef'n. I am not being paid for this review. But I do like grapefruit and anyone else who does should try the chef'n tool.

Pretty good gadget,

The only flaws are that it can only cut the sections the same size no matter if you are cutting a small or large grapefruit. It's also very sharp and the blade cover doesn't stay on real well. So, put it somewhere that you know your kids won't accidentally come across it. Other that that it works pretty good.

Chef'n GF-352 Grapefruiter Citrus Sectioning Tool
As someone who sections well over 100 grapefruit a year to freeze for home use, this tool is a godsend. It takes some doing to learn and you do get some pith, but all in all it is wonderful and easy to use.

AWSOME,

Got this for my wife last Christmass and she loves it. She uses it 2-3 times a week and it is still as sharp and easy to use as when she got it. Great buy and great service from Amazon.

Good,

The product works well. Not sure how it will hold up over time, but seems like it should last a few years. It is very unique. More pictures of how it works online would be valuable for future buyers.

I've been using this for a few months now and I love it. I buy a lot of citrus and this little gadget is oh so much better than trying to do it the old fashioned way. Takes a little bit of a learning curve to get the hang of it and I would like to see better instructions, but the video on the website helps. This works OK with oranges as well if you don't mind pulling 2 sections at a time instead of one. As for leftover fruit in the shell, what's the big deal? Just squeeze it over your bowl for the good juice and there is no waste.
What I would like to see is better construction though. I'm not sure this is going to hold up very well over time. I use it almost everyday and it is a little hard to clean and not overly well put together.

Great Gadget!!!,

I purchased a Grapefruiter two weeks ago and just ordered another one so that I can have one at home and at work. I absolutely LOVE this product. I would normally stray from grapefruit because it is not the easiest fruit to eat, however, now I eat it everyday. Definitely a handy little gadget.

I bought mine at my local gourmet shop, where I had also purchased a [ASIN:B00004SGFD KitchenAid JE Citrus Juicer Stand Mixer Attachment]] for my Kitchenaid Mixer. The little tool laid patiently in the drawer waiting for a opportunity to work whilst the juicer got all the jobs.
Then, I decided to make a grapefruit cake, and I needed grapefruit sections as well as juice. I was just reaching for a knife when I remembered the little tool sitting in the drawer. The first piece did not have much meat, but then I adjusted where I was putting it, and it came out with a perfect section, with no peel. The rest of the grapefruit was a snap! The little tool became a favorite, and I looked for opportunities to use it. Later that year, my friend asked me to make the same cake, but at her house. I didn't have my trusty tool, so I bought jarred grapefruit sections. They don't taste as good as fresh grapefruit, but I knew I would never get nice looking sections without the little tool. I have read some of the negative reviews, and I must say I have never had a problem with my grapefruit sectioner thingy, and that it makes perfect sections every time. |
