4.0 out of 5 stars Decent ground pepper
This grinder provides a decent amount of ground pepper. Contrary to the other reviewers, I find the size of the ground pepper to be fine -- it is obviously larger than the ground pepper that you're going to find in stores, but that's what you want from fresh ground pepper!

3.0 out of 5 stars How do you clean it?
I see many people asking how to fill it...but my question is how do you properly clean it?
I cannot believe someone who has been faithful to this ball for 10 years has never cleaned it...so please, tell me how does this thing get a good cleaning>

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent ground pepper, January 3, 2001

This grinder provides a decent amount of ground pepper. Contrary to the other reviewers, I find the size of the ground pepper to be fine -- it is obviously larger than the ground pepper that you're going to find in stores, but that's what you want from fresh ground pepper!

Two words of warning: First, the pepper that comes with this product isn't very flavorful. You may want to replace it immediately with better peppercorns. Whether this is due to the mill sitting for a while waiting for you or something else, I don't know. But just be warned. Second: it's bigger than you may think. The ball is easily between three and four inches wide, and the handles go up a good distance -- maybe five inches. Don't think of this as the size of a normal pepper shaker (the pictures make it hard to see how big it is)

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and handy but could grind a little finer, June 24, 2000

I love the convenience of the pepper ball. You can't beat one-handed grinding! My only gripe is that I can't grind the pepper to a fine dust like I can with my tall wooden old-style two handed grinder.

4.0 out of 5 stars to refill, May 10, 2002

hold peppermillball black handles down(chef'n logo facing you)
you should be looking at a vertical rectangle. With your thumb, slide it up (this may take some force). You should be looking at a little square opening. Please be aware that the manufacture taped and shrink wrapped this thing alot. For me it wasn't easy to see or feel,so please look carefully, and remove all of it.It's a great product and conversation piece.

5.0 out of 5 stars One-handed ground pepper!, May 26, 2000

I bought this pepper ball a few years ago and then bought several for family members. We all agree it's one of the best kitchen buys ever. Easy to handle, one-hand operation and adjustable grind size make this the only pepper mill worth having.

Above and beyond all the comments I receive from friends and family about the unique design of my Chef'n Pepper Ball, I truly love how it works. It's easy one handed operation allows me to stir and season at the same time!

5.0 out of 5 stars HOW DO YOU REFILL?, August 15, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Chef'n Pepper Ball with Black Handles (Kitchen)
This is a great product. But how do you replace the peppercorns?? Maybe mine was made wrong, but I cannot for the life of me find where the opening is. There is a review saying that the vertical door opens, but mine will not. Is there a seperate release for it? I am stumped! Please help! ( ).

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great invention!!!, October 28, 2001
By A Customer

This is the greatest kitchen gadget to come along in some time. But, confident that I could figure out how to fill it when the time came, I threw the instructions away. I really couldn't have done it before reading your reviews. Thanks for the help. You can dial the size of the pepper (big for my taste)and see when it is running out. I'm getting ready to add black tellicherry-a particularly bold pepper that is a favorite of mine. Once in, one hand will produce the large chunks I prefer every time with little effort. Buy one you will love it!!

I agree with you that it is a great product. I just found how to refill mine. It is a slot on the side that slides down and you just poor the peppercorn in. Hope this helps.

I received this and the salt mill for Christmas from my son. The set adds to my kitchen table. The handles are so easy to squeeze. The salt or pepper come out the size I choose. This is a great gift and a useful product.
