This was given as a gift for a friend's birthday. I have the previous version of collapsible Chef'n measuring cups - 2 sets - and love them. This set adds 2 things that my set does not have. 1 - pinch spouts, and 2 - a different mechanism for keeping them all together.

1 - I do not believe the pinch spouts are really all that cool. They are difficult to pinch and I can see doing it often will stress the plastic over time. Additionally, these are *dry* measuring cups and pinching them to "pour" them with things like flour inside just really won't occur. If you use them for liquid measure (bad, bad you!), you won't want to fill it up to the top if you are going to pinch them and then you're not really measuring right.

2 - The second thing, which I believe is a VAST improvement, is the ring to keep them together. The previous ones came with a small silicone "piece" (which strongly resembles a certain male body part) and the piece was jammed through all the holes. It always felt too short and I rarely use the pieces for either of my two sets which means they're just strewn about in my drawer. This new set nests better (the handles are curved as well) and the ring allows you to connect them if you want to.

The colors are nice, a little darker than they appear online, but still pretty. It's three different shades of green and one yellow.

I recommend them and would buy them again for myself or for others. They would be 5 stars if the spout made more sense.

But there are so many reasons they do not work for me. I'll first say, I bake a lot and also have 4 and 5 year old girls. I purchased based on the reviews and for the following reasons:

Colors - I loved the idea they were different because I always get the 1/3 and 1/4 cup mixed up if I'm not paying attention. Still love the concept.

Collapsability - haven't used the feature because I found that after you wash them they take awhile to get dry in those crevices. Plus, wasn't really concerned about space so much and you have to make sure they pop out the right way.

Plastic - I'd had the hard KitchenAid plastic measuring cups before and prefer plastic with the kids. Plastic on these is okay but forget it if you use anything in them that remotely has oil because they are then hard to clean. I used one for Crisco and I am now sorry.

Scoopability and measuring - I'll make up this new word because it is the main reason I am no online looking for some metal ones. Because I bake I use a lot of flour and I find the edge on these to make it hard and you can't get as clean of a measurement when swiping the top (not that I'm that picky about measuing that way but I found it hard to even do a "best guess" with these).

Hope this review helps others. Overall, probably will work for many and I know my kids will enjoy using them. But for me, back to looking at reviews for something else.

I bought these and the Progressive International 5-Piece Set Collapsible Measuring Cups, Green at the same time; both have pluses and minuses. I prefer the magnetic stacking of the Progressive cups, versus the plastic ring that keeps the Chef'n Sleekstor cups together, as it's a minor pain with the latter to get the measure you want without the others falling off. Plus you get one additional 3/4-cup measure with the Progressive cups, at a slightly lower price. However, the measure labeling on the cups is a lot better on the the Chef'n Sleekstor cups - big embossed characters on the measuring cup themselves, and embossed on the handles as well. The Progressive cups have the measure stenciled on the handle, and I can see that wearing off with time; a number of reviews have commented that they do exactly that. The pour spouts are a useless gimmick, since if you have the cup filled to the top with a liquid, pinching it will cause some of the liquid to overflow.

If I had to choose one or the other, I'd pick these Chef'n Sleekstor cups, but the Progressive cups are a decent alternative.

These Chef'n Collapsible Measuring Cups are look great, adding a bit of colorful to our kitchen, and save a lot of space since they collapse fairly flat, so they can be stored in drawer instead of cabinet. We picked up a set of these at a local specialty store and they have completely replace our older plastic set.

The "pinch" pouring spout is helpful for adding fluids to bottles with narrow openings and the ring keeps all of them together when not being used. This is a very good design.

Highly Recommended!

One year after purchase, one of the cups ripped as I was closing it for storage. Neat concept, and I loved the space saving collapse feature, but apparently standard use, including dishwasher top-shelf washing and collapsing for storage is too much wear and tear for the silicone to last past a year. 5 stars for concept reduced to three for durability.

This has to be one of the greatest little inventions created for small kitchens or ones without a lot of deep drawer space (like mine). My kitchen only has one large utensil drawer and 2 tiny, 5-6" wide "junk" drawers and before finding this Chef'n SleekStor Pinch Pour Collapsible Measuring Cups, Trend Colors set, I was constantly moving my regular, rigid plastic, "non" collapsible measuring cups from drawer to drawer to cabinet hook and back to drawer, never quite happy with their location (the 1-cup size was esp. problematic as it was so deep that it would constantly get caught behind the top lip of the drawer if I wasn't careful and if I forgot to push it down as I slid opened the drawer).
This is one of those, "why didn't I know about these SOONER?!" type of things and I only "discovered" them because I did a search on Amazon last week for "Chef'n" products as I recently bought the Chef'n SleekStor Pinch with Pour Measuring Beaker, 2-Cup Size and immediately fell in love with the brand. There is another one I was considering, the Squish Collapsible Measuring Cups which came in cuter colors, but it did not have the "pinch" to pour feature exclusive to the Chef'n Sleek products which, after receiving the pinch measuring cup and testing the feature with different types of liquids in varying densities and textures, I cannot imagine how I ever lived without it. My leaky, dribble-y, heavy glass Pyrex cups have since been banished to the back of some little used cabinet and I have not missed them in the slightest ;)
