5.0 out of 5 stars Very versatile product, highly recommend
A friend of mine recommended these spatulas and I couldn't be more pleased. If you have ever owned the standard rubber spatulas with a wooden handle you will immediately recognize that a single piece design is a major improvement. No more spatula heads popping off their handles.

3.0 out of 5 stars I loved it! Until it broke...
So sad,
I've had this tool for about 5 months, and I've been in love with it since day one. I think I've convinced about 10 friends to buy one too. Yesterday though, I was using it to push some sugar around as I was melting it for a flan, and the spat just snapped right at the point where the steel support begins. I've called chefn and left a message about...

A friend of mine recommended these spatulas and I couldn't be more pleased. If you have ever owned the standard rubber spatulas with a wooden handle you will immediately recognize that a single piece design is a major improvement. No more spatula heads popping off their handles.

Because this item has a double head is twice as handy. I use it as both a both a bowl scraper and as a spatula. The smaller head works well for completely emptying a blender jar and/or food processor.

It is fabulous at loosening fish or eggs from pans. Whenever I am making risotto cakes, or crab cakes I always reach for this spatula to make certain the cakes release. I also use this spatula as a spoon for stirring polenta or risotto. Having the second smaller head makes a handy tasting spoon that doesn't contaminate the pot.

This spatula is also easy to clean. This spatula also does not stain. I used it to make marina and there was no resulting "orange" stain after washing.

I highly recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Spatula; Huge Glitch, February 19, 2006
I read about these on Kevin Kelly's Cool Tools Site (kevinkelly.com) and I bought two for work. I work as a cook at a resort, and like them very much, but I had one break within a week. Moving a cream cheese mixture in a processor bowl, the spatula had been pushed down into the bowl, bending it's blade at a 90 degree angle. It broke at the top of the metal bar contained inside the handle.
I emailed Chef'n explaining what happened, and they quickly argeed to replace it. So if you do break one, don't throw it away. If you buy one, you may want to shy away from ultra-thick mixtures, and bending it at severe angles. It's still a Five Star piece of equipment for gravies, sauces, omelets and the like, but not for everything.

Yesterday though, I was using it to push some sugar around as I was melting it for a flan, and the spat just snapped right at the point where the steel support begins. I've called chefn and left a message about replacing it... but given similar comments on Amazon, let the buyer beware. Great tool, but not as sturdy as it seems

*update*
Chefn was more than happy to replace the spat for me when I sent it in (natch, to my expense for outgoing shipping, but free for the return shipping) to them. They didn't require a receipt either. I still like the spat a lot, but am weary to use it for more strenuous purposes.

5.0 out of 5 stars So great I keep getting more and giving as gifts, July 3, 2006

I now own 3 of these. We use them so often that they don't get washed before we want to use it again. I have given them away to many members of my family and everytime I'm on Amazon, I'm tempted to buy more.

Get one of these and you'll wonder how you got along before. It is worth more than 5 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensible., January 1, 2006

I've been using this spatula for over a year, and it has become indispensible. It does a wonderful job getting those last bits of batter and sauce out of mixing bowsl and pans. It's high-temp silicone also makes it handy as a spatula for frying eggs and flipping pancakes. It is easy to clean--no removing the heads as is necessary with other silicon spatulas--and is designed without seams that trap sauces and such. I have thrown away my old rubber spatulas and plastic spatulas replaced them with variations of this handy kitchen tool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite spatula of all time, December 23, 2005
These spatulas are awesome. Great for cooking anything! I've even used them in making candy. Because the whole spatula is silicone, with the stainless steel bar entirely encased, there is no place that you'd have to worry about food getting trapped and contaminating other foods, as you do with other spatulas where the handle is separate from the spatula head. These spatulas are indispensible!

2.0 out of 5 stars enthusiasm faded after the thing broke, July 24, 2006
Corrected review:

On September 1st, after using it five times to stir soft ice cream, I used this spatula to stir flour into oil and it broke with the steel stem sticking out.

Amazon emailed the promise to refund this product but I haven't seen the refund yet.

Your kitchen only needs one spatula, and this is it. The small end gets the last little bit of mayo from a huge jar, the big end can fold egg whites, flip pancakes, deglaze a hot skillet... well, you don't need me to tell you what to do with a spatula.

I really love that it's one smooth piece of rubber. A regular spatula is 2 pieces- the handle and the blade. The blade can fall off, stuff gets inside the little hole of the blade where the handle fits in, or with time the hole gets loose and the blade wobbles around. None of that is an issue with the Chef'n. Even my expensive Le Crueset silicone spatula (a gift) is made so that you can take off the blade and put it in the dishwasher, and wash the delicate wooden handle by hand. Guess how often I use that.

I've read other reviews that this spatula can snap when mixing stiff dough, so just be aware. It's extremely durable, but not indestructable.

I really like this product. It's stiff enough through the centre and flexible enough on both ends. At first touch it seemed a little inflexible on the ends but with first use -- scrambled eggs -- it performed perfectly. I will buy more, in different sizes.
