5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Slicer, February 7, 2007
I purchased the Chef's Choice #668 slicer about a year ago. Every couple of months I buy lunch meat in bulk and slice it to my liking. I then freeze sandwich-size packets of meat for later use. I routinely slice about 25 pounds of meat at a time. I knew I needed a slicer that approached commercial grade, and this model appeared to be top of the line in this price range. It has performed admirably in all respects. It slices smoothly and quickly. It is solid metal and seems very well designed and constructed. If I remember correctly, it is German-made. It is also fairly easy to clean after use.

I purchased the Chef's Choice Food Slicer in December. We tend to throw allot of parties and sometimes it's just easier to purchase in bulk and slice your own meats and cheeses. We have thrown everything we can at this machine and it does not bog down one bit. We have sliced roast beef, mozzarella cheese, Monterey jack, Cheddar cheese, brisket, steak, ect. The machine is relatively easy to clean. The only downside is it is a little heavy to move around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chef's Choice 668 Slicer, March 14, 2009
This review is from: Chef's Choice 668 Professional Electric Food Slicer (Kitchen)
I've had it for about 2 years. I wanted to save money. I wanted top quality. I researched this as if I was buying a new tool for the garage and had to justify the cost. It is essentially a table saw with a razor-sharp blade and needs to be treated as such! It is simple to maintain. It hums quiet and runs on 110 with 3-prong outlet. It pays for itself in about 2 years or less, e.g., $3 angus sirloin tip ground beef, stew meat cubes and roast beef instead of the store-bought USDA hamburger ($4), stew meat ($4) and roast beef($6). It does the slab bacon, block cheeses, confetti lettuce, sliced home-made bread. It slices paper thin for deli cheese and meat or nice and thick to shorten the chore of making stew meat or ground beef by slicing off 0.6" slabs from a roast. Just be REAL careful with that blade. It'll slice thru your finger like butter without even spinning. I tend now to go meat shopping 2 or maybe even 3 times per year when it's on sale and restock the frost-free freezer. It feels good walking out the store 2 or 3 times a year with a hundred pounds of meat and knowing you just saved between $100-$300 dollars at each visit.
