Product Description

Chef's Choice 836 Petite Cone Express- comes with cone rolling form and recipes

Amazon.com

The little cones turned out by the Chef’s Choice Petite Cone Express can be filled with savory or sweet ingredients, making them fun for festive appetizers or a homemade ice cream party. Shaped like a waffle iron, the unit cooks multiple cones at once on its round griddles, allowing you to roll up to three 3-inch cones in about a minute. It also includes instant temperature recovery, so you can cook cone after cone, and features color control settings ranging from golden to brown. The nonstick cooking plates release cones without sticking, and a simple overflow channel catches drips. Measuring 9-1/2 by 9 by 3-1/4 inches, the tidy little unit locks for vertical storage, includes a built-in cord wrap and indicator lights, and comes with a sturdy plastic cone roller. Chef’s Choice backs the appliance with a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

I decided that I didn't want a full-size waffle cone maker because I'd like the cones to be a reasonable size, rather than the huge ones that are served at ice cream shops. So I went for this petite one. I'm thinking that ideally, I'd like a cone maker that makes cones somewhere in the middle of the two sizes. But this is really fun; it's great for kids and those who want to limit portions. I think it would be fun for big groups, too. It makes for cute little portions. It definitely does take a little time to get used to rolling the cones just right, but it's do-able. I use a kitchen towel and roll the cones with the towel protecting my fingers. I also looked up some recipes on blogs because I didn't want to use some kind of mix. Lots of fun.

AMAZON IS 100% RELIABLE, THE DELIVERY AS PROMISED. THE PRODUCT IS EXCELLENT: IN QUALITY, MATERIALS AND PERFORMANCE. PETITE CONE OR COOKIE ARE THE PERFECT SIZE: A LARGER WAFFLE CONE WOULD BE SINFULLY FATTENING. ?ANYWAY YOU WILL EAT MORE THAN ONE!
LIVING IN MEXICO, I HAVE TO MAKE MY OWN RECIPE FOR THE WAFFLE CONE MIX, WHICH TURNED INTO A GREAT VARIETY OF DELICIOUS CONES. MIXING TBPS. AND TSPS. OF DIFFERENT FLOURS, BUTTERS, MILKS, NUTS, SWEETENERS AND FLAVOURS I WAS ABLE TO ACHIEVE DIFFERENT DEGREES OF CRISPINESS, THICKNESSES AND EVEN A BIGGER WAFFLE, UP TO 7 INCHES.
YOU EASILY CAN ROLL THE 3 CONES, WORKING WITH ONE AT A TIME ON TOP OF A CLOTH, NOT A COLD COUNTER.
?ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS I DO!
1000watts-120voltsAC-60Hz, has a dimmer with 6 positions so works from 200watts up to 1000 watts. Lighter colour slow cooking put to darker colour faster cooking.

I bought this to make gluten free ice cream cones for my son's castle cake. It worked just like a charm. It is simple and easy to use, but you do have to work quickly. As the cones are ready, you have to shape them before they cool off. We were able to make nearly a dozen. These are not the size of regular cones, but a little bit smaller. Great item for the money.

I am opening my first ice cream parlor in May and selected this cone maker to make mini-cones. The first time I used it, I made over 200 mini waffle cones! It took a few iterations to figure out the correct amount of mix to place in it.

This machine seems more ideal to make Dutch stroopwafels. Stroopwafels are waffles made from yeast dough, split in half, and one half is then topped with hot caramel. The 2 half pieces are then put back together to make the chewy stroopwafel cookie. 3 inches would be the ideal size for such a traditional cookie. I agree with the previous review that to make 3" cones would be inconvenient at best. I intend to buy this waffle maker for the sole use of making stroopwafels.

I cannot review the workings of the product, since I do not own it yet. Once I do, I will update the review.

OMG they are really tiny. It is really difficult to get the dough mixture over the entire circle since you are putting the mixture in the middle of each circle and you don't want to overshoot. Then to get 1 of them off the hot device and "rolled" on the cone roller before your ruin the other two is nearly impossible. You must sort of hold pressure on the cone in order for it to "fuse" while it is hot. If I had this to do over again I would have just ordered the regular size one, this one is just too much trouble and the cones aren't big enough to hold anything anyway.

Works very well and quickly. The heating is a little uneven on the round closest to the hinge. Working with two cones at a time is easy enough.
