5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile tool in my kitchen for over 8 years
I bought this griddle over 8 years ago for $39. It has been very useful with my electric stove for making many pancakes, burgers, grilled cheese, etc. I can cook 5-6 pancakes at a time, burgers & buns together, 4 grilled cheese sandwiches. Unlike the non-stick model 3560 also listed on this site, you can use this over high heat without any damage to it. Unlike the other...

3.0 out of 5 stars Works fine, if you know the trick
The first time I used this product I discovered the trick to using it, USE LOTS OF COOKING SPRAY. In fact, more than you think you need. I used enough to cover the pan, and my food stuck terribly. So the next time I used it I oversaturated it, and it worked wonderfully. Very even cooking, and the defrost feature is fantastic in a pinch.

For some reason...

Unlike the non-stick model 3560 also listed on this site, you can use this over high heat without any damage to it. Unlike the other review, I don't find it hard to clean. Over time, it retains some darkness of color (reminds me of cast iron), but it is not as heavy nor do you have the rust issues. Cleanup is easy with my blue Scotch-Brite multi-purpose scrub sponge. I'm planning on buying one for my sister and was delighted to find the same griddle available.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love my griddle, August 14, 2006
This review is from: Chef's Design Reversible Hard-Coat Anodized Double Burner Grill/Griddle (Kitchen)
I've used this griddle 3 times now since ordering it earlier in the summer. I've cooked chicken breasts, hamburgers, and pancakes on it and they've all turned out spectacular! The trick is to make sure the heat is low to medium; do not crank up the heat.

Also, the griddle has to be cooled off before cleaning. So far, I haven't had a problem with the clean-up. It's a bit heavy to handle at the sink, but that is expected.

It's my first stop-top griddle and I am very happy with it!!

For some reason mine stained the first time I used it, despite the fact that I submerged it in soapy water the second I was done. I've tried to get the stain out to no avail. That kind of bothers me.

Overall, this product does what it should, as long as you know the trick!

This product does exactly what it says it will do. It works great for cooking and thawing food. It defrosted my chicken (frozen solid) in no time. What a great addition to my kitchen!

2.0 out of 5 stars You Get What You Pay For, May 20, 2006

This review is from: Chef's Design Reversible Hard-Coat Anodized Double Burner Grill/Griddle (Kitchen)
I had been looking for a double-burner reversible grill/griddle for quite a while.

At first I tried uncoated cast iron ala Rachael Ray on "30 Minute Meals." Though it cooked very well, it was too heavy to comfortably maneuver to the sink for cleaning while hot. This is when cast iron happens to be the eaiest to clean.

Since I already have and love a Calphalon Professional square grill, I next thought about anodized aluminum. I thought the new Calphalon One double-burner grill was pricey for what would be only an occasional piece. Also, I really wanted the griddle surface and Calphalon does not make a reversible pan.

So I gave this pan a try, figuring anodized aluminum pans are all alike. Boy, was I wrong. The first thing I grilled was simple dry bread and though it cooked fine, it left burn marks I have yet to be able to scrub off. I understand from using Calphalon that anodized aluminum is a stick resistant surface, not non-stick, but I never had such problems cleaning my square grill.

So it just proves what my mother always told me: "You get what you pay for." It also proves that not only does profesional grade cookware perform better, but it also cleans easier.

I love this griddle. I've had it 2 months now and I use it nearly everyday for everything from breakfast to dinner. Food cooks quickly and evenly, leaving those great grill marks. It's light weight, sturdy and easy to clean. It's also beginning to take on that lovely black patina like cast iron. It's one of the best cookware purchases I've ever made.

it does seem like it's made to last. It has more of a cast iron feel to it than my old nonstick grill. I was looking for one that wasn't going to flake or peel and liked the idea of it being double sided. I didn't have an indoor grill before this. At first it didn't seem to work well because my pancakes stuck a little and were not browning the same way the did on the nonstick, but then I adjusted how much cooking spray I used and made sure I preheated it very well before putting the batter on and they came out better. I've only cooked hotdogs on the grill side but they came out fine. It's heavy and needs to cool down before moving to the sink for cleanup, but that's expected.

1.0 out of 5 stars Is it supposed to look like this??, May 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chef's Design Reversible Hard-Coat Anodized Double Burner Grill/Griddle (Kitchen)
I just received my double-burner griddle. I have not used it yet, but wanted to write a review incase anyone could provide feedback as to whether they are supposed to look the way mine does? To explain... when I removed it from the box I was shocked that it looked, smelled and felt like a flat slab of concrete?? It does not look like this in the picture, and mine is very grey, not black. It also has what looks like several nicks in the outer surface, with what looks like tiny bits of aluminum showing through from underneath?? I'm not sure whether I have just received a poorly anodized griddle, or whether my expectations were wrong. I have only ever owned non-stick double-burner griddles, and wanted to go a healthier route in replacing my old one, as I've read that non-stick kitchenware is unhealthy. (I also ALWAYS prefer products made in America, not China.) I will call the company to find out whether I have received a defective griddle, but would appreciate any advice any of the other reviewers may have, in the meantime. Thanks in advance!

2.0 out of 5 stars It warped, July 20, 2010

I didn't get mine here, but thought I should share a potential problem beyond the issues with sprays/oils etc. Mine has WARPED; as solid as it is that was not a possibility I ever thought of, nor is it one I have ever encountered with any other double griddle, even cheaper ones. It is now useless as the warping prevents an even heat distribution.
