2.0 out of 5 stars Poor design, mediocre quality, October 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Chef's Design Ribbed Double Burner Grill (Kitchen)
I received this as a gift, and was looking forward to cooking up lots of pancakes or french toast at once. However, because of the design of the grease/juice wells on two corners, the griddle will not sit evenly on my gas range. I tried various positions, but gave up. If your range has square racks, avoid this.

One more thing - after relatively few uses, and only using wooden spatulas, the "nonstick" surface began to wear and foods started sticking badly.

1.0 out of 5 stars Chef's Design Nonstick griddle CAN'T be cleaned. IT'S A LIE!, December 8, 2004

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I can't tell you how angry I am that my wife bought this piece of junk cookware. We cooked some chicken on it, a few burned and left some charcoal-like chunks and residue stuck to the ribs of the griddle. Fine. It should wash off easily right because it has a NONSTICK coating. IT'S A LIE!! It's nonstick in NAME ONLY. So what do you do? You have to scrub it off with a wire brush. And all those bits of so-called nonstick coating peel away and later flake away INTO your food the next time you cook with it! How dangerous is that? Ridiculous product with a ridiculous claim. This Wisconsin company should be SUED! I have sent a letter to the Better Business Bureau of that state.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rangtop griddle, January 18, 2007

We found this griddle to be extremely hard to clean.....almost impossible, in fact. I'm not happy with it at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Quality, March 24, 2011
This review is from: Chef's Design Ribbed Double Burner Grill (Kitchen)
Feel silly as this was a gift, but it is the worst made cookware I've ever used. Like everyone else said, it does not clean after the first use. Food gets permanently stuck on it's surface. Besides being a horrible product, I wonder about it's safety when used again after scrubbing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Double-sided griddle, February 14, 2010

We bought this double-sided griddle and followed the directions for its care. Unfortunately, the so-called non-stick surface areas wore out, especially in the areas under the gas burners. The ribbed sections have exposed the aluminum metal which has turned whitish and speckled. Thus, its ability to cook with has been compromised. We no longer use it. This was made by the Wisconsin Alum Fndry.

Despite the above, we did find a better quality one-sided flat grill made by the same company. The surface coating is of much higher quality than the ribbed griddle. It's about the same size as the ribbed griddle, but it's much heavier. We've used it on our gas stove without any problems, and so far, the non-stick surface coatings have withstood numerous uses. Of course, we did pay more for it than the ribbed griddle.

We don't understand why the Wisconsin Alum Fndry would market the double-sided ribbed griddle because we've read a number of complaints about its quality. The non-stick surface coatings just did not hold up. They should take them off the market.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Beth is WRONG, September 16, 2003

FYI- I based my purchase decision largely upon the review listed above. Foolishly. This griddle is NOT reversible, so you cannot do pancakes etc. It is a rangetop GRILL, nothing griddle about.
