4.0 out of 5 stars Not compatible with flat top electric stoves
I ordered this item and was excited about using it, but I had to return it. Its not listed in the item description, but on the box it says the griddle is not compatible with flat top stoves.

2.0 out of 5 stars not good
We used this griddle successfully with cooking spray to cook pancakes, the chicken breasts and fish we tried (on the flat side) stuck horribly and were really tough to clean up. Not sure if we used cooking spray for them. Cooking bacon on the griddle side was a nightmare - it glued itself to the surface. I do NOT recommend this griddle, unless you like to well oil all...

I use this constantly! I'm not all that into using an outdoor grill, so this is perfect! It's just the right size for 2 - 4 pieces of chicken, portobello mushrooms, burgers, steaks and it washes up in a snap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reversible Grill/Griddle is GREAT VALUE, November 10, 2006

This is a superb product. It works great in both modes and really does defrost things quickly as well...something I was a little sceptical of.
Compared to the price for grill pans it was a REAL bargain and does the job as well or better because there are no issues of being able to get at the meat to turn it. I would love a bigger one that covers more than one burner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product - no need to grill outside., June 11, 2011
This review is from: Chef's Design Single Burner Reversible Grill/Griddle (Kitchen)
We've had several of these over the last decade, plus we've given them as presents at least 5 times, and everyone loves them.
The grill pan's not the least difficult to clean - we use a Scotch-Brite sponge: no probs (we always spray Pam for Grilling before we start).
We live in Oregon, and this grill pan makes it easy to grill indoors year round and not go out in the rain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Especially for De-Frosting!, September 29, 2008
By
This review is from: Chef's Design Single Burner Reversible Grill/Griddle (Kitchen)
I bought this on 8/21/08 solely to cook chicken and steak in the COLD Cleveland, Ohio months when I didn't feel like starting my outdoor propane grill this winter (2008-09).

I had no idea of it's touted claim of "defrosting foods quickly" until I actually had it in my home and read the brochures in the box. THIS THING IS INCREDIBLE! I kid you not, stuff that would take 6-8 hours to thaw on my counter-top are ready in about an hour(or less!). It's like Magic!!

A helpful-hint: If you want "grill-marks", put it in a 500-degree oven for 10 minutes or so before putting it on your stove-top burner. ...This thing hold a lot of heat!

...I personally like my steak "Mooing" on the inside but with a nice crust of seasoning and/or flesh-cooked about 1/32nd inch on each side. If I have a really 'nice' piece of meat, I've left the grill in the 500-degree over for upwards of 15 minutes before putting it on the stove-top and adding the piece of meat.

You certainly don't need to "pre-heat" it in the oven and you wouldn't want to if you were making say, a pancake or an egg. ...From 'Cold' to stove-top, DO pre-heat for 6-10 minutes at medium-high.

This is the drawback: I actually love the one I got so I wanted to buy another one! I originally paid $13.26 on 8/21/08 for this wonderful thing. --It's a little more than a month later, 9/30/08, and the price has more than doubled to $32.32!

It's NOT worth $30+ but it is worth $15. If it's 'On Sale' for $15 or less, BUY IT! You won't regret it if for nothing else than it's Quick-Defrost Magic!!

Blessings,

LC
Cleveland, OH

5.0 out of 5 stars Convenient, ,Versatile, Enjoyable to Use!, February 23, 2008
This review is from: Chef's Design Single Burner Reversible Grill/Griddle (Kitchen)
I came back to the US from living abroad and I had to buy everything for my home, starting from scratch. I bought a set of pans that have disappointed me, so I began looking for a new fry pan, at least. I looked at skillets, electric skillets and fry pans of all makes and models. I have so many electric things that I have to store away! I really didn't want one more. I took a chance with this single burner grill/griddle and I absolutely love it. I leave it on the stove always. I do spray it before using. One time I forgot and made steak kabobs. Usually a quick rinse will get the goop off. This time it was more difficult. So, I put it back on the burner, poured a little water on it, brought it to a sizzle and the crust came right off! If I had been the designer, I would have added a small handle. Love this product and use it daily!

This griddle is great. It defrosts meats quickly. Easy clean up. If you follow the care for the product instructions you won't have any problems with it. I love it.

I love cooking with this thing, but is extremely hard to clean. I bought it in October 2006 and the non-stick layer is starting to peel off already and I have not used any metal utensils on it.

The only true indoor grill is a cast iron. This grilled nicely before it started chipping and peeling a little. I gave this away to someone who didn't mind the flaking. I ended up purchasing a cast iron grill for all my winter grilling.
